RE: NCAA screws up NIT
I have no qualms with a team getting an NIT invite if they won their league regular season championship, but not their tournament. A team should be rewarded for winning their league, regardless of how bad the league is.

Have seen idiotic statements by people in here but yours may have been #1. We are talking about conferences which are basically gifted an invitation just for existing. Then because their best terrible team fails to win the conference then that terrible team gets in NIT while a deserving team is left out. If your best team is in the 180s and they cannot win the conference tournament they are NOT deserving post season play.

Very simple with all their results the same name one other year before the rule change they would have made post season with their record.

No! They were REWARDED for doing something no one else in their conference did….Win it.

If the majority of D1 schools didn’t like it they could have suggested the NCAA change it. But they didn’t.

The rule rewarding these teams was in place from the START of the season and everyone knew it.

Is this an honest question?

Yes. Next question.

(If the next question implies that these schools are less deserving than Memphis, I don't know what to tell you. They freaking won their league.)

Zero problem with reg season champs getting in. In fact it's a great rule. NIT was also-rans. Now it's also-rans - some of whom actually accomplished something.

It's the NIT, can't really get riled up over it.

RE: NCAA screws up NIT
if the NCAA would simply expand the NIT field to 64 teams, you would run off most of these 'pay for play' tournaments.

68 NCAA
64 NIT

that's it...no CIT or CBI
