Got to aggregate that wealth through credits.

I think that's exactly what's going on. They think they can starve out the competition and make the road to championships and more money that much easier. No way that the screw jobs handed out by the selection committee don't have a puppet master on the other end pulling strings.

Impressive for the Big 12 with only 10 members. :phew:American was the last team out 2 straight years so maybe the Tulsa bid was a gift. Vandy and Syracuse (especially cuse) was a big gift.

C-USA needs to get Charlotte back to old levels then have UAB play a little better OOC. If there are 3-4 teams that sneak around that -75 RPI level then you get a little credit for wins. It doesn't help when every game is a possible bad loss.

So basically the only true mid major conference to receive and at large was the MVC, and that went to Wichita State who is somewhat of an exception. I think the lesson is if you you're a mid major team and you want to Dance, you better win your conference tournament.

Cuse should have been out for sure, Vandy too. Can't believe St Marys & Monmouth got left out.

RE: Only 9 of the 32 Division 1 conferences got multiple bids
Nine isn't really that huge of a difference. This is the first time since only 2010 that there were nine multiple bid leagues and every year, there was 10 or 11 (with the exception of 12 in 2012).

This was an unusually weak year for some of the mid-major powers. The WCC has always been a multiple bid league but Gonzaga and BYU were down meaning that St. Mary's was left without a big time win.

Same thing for the MWC, which was historically bad by its standards. Remember that the MWC is just three years removed from getting five bids (even after BYU left). Powerhouses UNLV (141) and New Mexico (147) were down with recent tournament teams Boise and Colorado State also finishing below 100 in the RPI. There were just two Top 100 teams. That left San Diego State out to dry (along with a regrettable decision to play an outdoor game that they lost to RPI 302 San Diego).

A more long-term reason: Conference shakeups mean that the good mid-major schools have now consolidated into fewer conferences. C-USA and the Colonial were frequently multiple bid leagues that were gutted by the AAC and A-10, respectively. The Mountain West lost two of its top programs with Utah and BYU leaving in 2011. The Horizon, which was occasionally a multiple bid league when someone upset Butler, lost Butler.

You have to remember that not only does that take away top programs, it hurts everyone else in the conferences' RPIs because playing those top teams usually gave a huge bump and an opportunity for a much-needed top-50 win.

We're the 22nd ranked conference. At least for us, we didn't deserve multiple bids.

Ive never considered the MVC a "mid-major". Not a high major but major basketball conf for sure.

St. Mary beat Gonzaga twice. The only reason that St. Mary's ended up with any top 50 wins is because they lost to Gonzaga the third time. That loss actually made Gonzaga a top 50 team. That is why St. Mary's was left out of the tournament according the NCAA committee chair.

Syracuse. Goodness.

They have an RPI five spots ahead of us and get an at-large as a 10.

They might as well just rename it the National Power Conference Tournament.
