Yeah that's ridiculous. Monmouth did everything the selection committee asked mid-major schools to do. Go on the road and beat P5 teams. Major slap in the face.

Yep. No St Bonaventure, SDSU, or Saint Mary's either. I guess the committee gave Cuse a break because Boheim missed the first however many games of the season because he was suspended...which is the biggest load of crap ever. The dud was freakin suspended, not ill.

The selection committee is too busy blowing whatever school they think will put eyeballs watching TV screens. It's getting to be even more of a show each year. It's gonna be every conference that isn't a P5 or basketball blue blood getting a single bid before long.

That appears to be the goal.

No way Syracuse or Vandy should be in over Monmouth and St Mary's.

I really wish Arkansas Little Rock had lost today so they would have to explain how they left out a team with only 5 losses. They need to expand the tournament since they've made a conscious decision to screw over deserving teams to put in "big schools".

They would just that as an opportunity to screw over more deserving teams in favor of more big schools. College athletics are becoming more of a joke every year.

This is the worst bracket I can remember. Tulsa was projected in I think 0 of 59 brackets. Vandy and Syracuse have some horrible losses. Monmouth, St. Bonny, St. Mary's all got completely screwed.

The First Four games in Dayton are (a) the four lowest rated auto-qualifiers and (b) the four lowest rated at-large selections. Tulsa, Michigan, Vandy, and Wichita were the four lowest rated at-large teams selected - thus, they are playing as two of the First Four games.

Right. But two of those teams, Tulsa and Vandy, shouldn't have even been in the field. That doesn't even include Syracuse who definitely shouldn't have been in.

Sure - not disputing/arguing the worthiness; I interpreted the other poster as not understanding why Vandy et al were slotted for the play-in games. That may have been a misinterpretation, but that is the way I read it.
From my perspective, the NCAA committee (as usual) rewards the power conference mid-achievers over the high-achieving non-power conference teams. Not unlike college fb, programs have relatively no control over the strength of their schedules and conferences. It is guesswork and luck, for the most part. And the non-powers are always more penalized for this inevitability.

Yep. The gap seems to widen every year.

And no doubt it is intentional. It contributes to my growing indifference to any sporting event not involving Marshall. I used to be a borderline college fb junkie (and probably the same for bball). I can't muster the interest or enthusiasm for the sports anymore because of the nagging voice in the back of my mind that keeps whispering "it doesn't matter HOW well your team performs - you're team is not part of the conversation." So - I pay attention to Marshall, and if there is a game that impacts MU indirectly, I'll pay attention there. Otherwise, I'm a bit more apathetic.

Sickening.
The thing I do not understand is why more fans don't see this or show outrage.
APATHY appears to taken over in sports, politics, and religion.I may soon just give up on D1.

Interesting fact I heard yesterday. This only proves the "little guy" is at a disadvantage. That in the last 12 years the last 2 teams left out, with the highest RPI, are all from non-power conference schools.

Yep and if you look closer you see P5 teams play 85% of their games on their home floor or neutral sites...Meanwhile teams like us and Monmouth played 1 home non conference game, 1! Last year it was schedule more roads games, that's all Monmouth played and we still got left out...I thought it was bad 10 years ago, nowadays we don't have a fighting chance......

I think it's against the rules for any team to get a home game.
I'll be pulling for Middle Tenn. It's just a shame that they got a 15 seed.
