There wont be an 11th team. It will be either 10 or 12.

Its not like there is a shortage of seats at the tourney. I'm sure any AD that showed up there would be extended the courtesy.

I see no reason why USM would be added. I think Marshall brings more value and name recognition.

Neither fit the profile. When Tulsa was extended an invitation it was down to them and UMass. Marshall and USM weren't on the radar. Southern Miss is not in much better shape now. Their fb coach left on the eve of signing day and their bball is a disaster.
We already took on enough projects. The AAC has the benefit of time on their side now.
Marshall isn't even worth talking about.

Would Southern Miss even have enough money to buy their way out of CUSA? Much less enough to pay their way into the AAC? That school is broke.

Because I grew tired of these ridiculous rumors, I called an assistant AD at Tulane earlier and we spoke at length about what is going on. They have informed me that there has been absolutely no mention of Southern Miss as an expansion candidate and that even if the name was brought up, something "catastrophic" would have to take place before USM would even fall into the top 15 names being considered. I hope we can finally put this nonsense to bed.
