So, let's talk some (Spring) Football...
Was just noticing this and realizing that we haven't been talking any football lately... For obvious reasons, but still.

OK, so I'm a little confused... After the Week 1 scrimmage, I thought I heard Tuberville say that the next week was going to focus on Defense... But then after week 2, he was talking about the offense again.

That and, after week 2, Boone is sitting again...seems like old times.

It worries me that he believes we have a great stable of running backs. We have one very good back, and one above average back. Chad B is great in mop up duty, but should not take carries away from Boone. That would be even more idiotic than last year. This is so frustrating.

We are going to be running the football a lot more this year than we have the past three years. We are also moving away from the read option and we will see more of a traditional power run game. Backs won't be getting a handoff and running up the middle. They will be hitting the holes hard and in some cases have a lead blocker in front of them. In short our running plays are going to look more like they did during the Butch Jones era. I think this is a very good thing for Boone and it will fit Tion Green even more as he is a downhill runner.

I will let it play out, but the pro style will not work here. We do not recruit a high enough caliber offensive lineman. We have a hard time pushing other teams around. The shotgun allows us the extra seconds to complete passes. Now we have been able to recruit high caliber receivers and running backs, but the guys in the trenches are harder to find. I thought TT learned this lesson in year one.

I'm not getting all amped for football....I did last year and got crushed.

I'm going into band wagon fan mode....if by some miracle they are good, I'll start tuning in. If not, and most likely, it will be not, I won't get crushed.

As long as CTT is coach here, I'm in 'bandwagon' mode.

It won't be pro style. Again it will be similar to the concepts we ran under Butch Jones. Power rin game out of a spread formation.

Good, I thought that I heard Pro style. Must be just an ex pro coach. I liked Butch's offense, not his play calling so much. I will be very pleased that it is not pro style.

If the cats want to run the ball more try the occasional shuffle pass to open the middle. It was successful with CTT predecessors, this should be used more once or twice a game. Yeah I know it is a pass and a little thing, but in the playbook.02-13-banana

God, that shovel-pass used to give me panic attacks... But no doubt it was effective.

Why would CTT use something his predecessors used that actually worked?! CTT thinks his predecessors merely put UC on a "slow jog" to football prominence. hahaha. His words, not mine. Slow jog....so being ranked, winning the Big East and going to BCS bowls is a slow jog. His attempts to rewrite history at UC to make his own pathetic tenure look better are funny in a sad way...or sad in a funny way. He sucks.

I think Taylor knows what he has in Boone. I'm really interested in the backup qb battle. Rooting for Gunner, but he has a history of not making it through a season.

Yup

Here's how that initial conversation went:
Taylor: Hey Coach Tubs, can I talk to you for a second?
Tubs: <at desk looking over golf card> Huh?
Taylor: I just wanted to talk to you about Boone.
Tubs: Who?
Taylor: Uh...Mike Boone...one of our players.
Tubs: Oh, uh, ayup, he's a fine kid. Hits hard.
Taylor: Well, he's a running back. He's a good one. I think if we give him 30 carries he can give us 1000 yards easy. I'm excited to have him!
Tubs: oh, uh, yeah, me too, me. <still looking over golf card as speaks>
Taylor: Well, uh, ok that was all.
Tubs: Thanks for stopping by Zane.
Taylor: It's Zach sir.
Tubs: Oh, uh, yeah, Zach. Hey can you close my office door on the way out and turn that little do not disturb thingy on the handle for me. Thanks son.
