MAC Women's Championship Game - CMU / UB
Buffalo up 37-36 at halftime. CMU continued its habit of falling into a double-digit hole early but fought all the way back and had a brief lead just before halftime. Buffalo hit an uncontested triple at the end of the half for the margin.

Heartbreaker. 03-banghead But yes, what a game! Can't be too disappointed, as CMU exceeded most expectations this year. Hopefully an NIT bid is in the offing.

UB had a perfectly designed play to end the half, and then another one to end the game. Just before halftime, with Central at the line and maybe 6 or 7 seconds to go, Buffalo subbed in a post player who had not played in the first game and a half ( I think). After the free throw, the new player inbounded to the point guard who hurried the ball up court and drove the lane, then jumped in the air and spun around and threw the ball back to the top of the key where the girl who just came in was waiting and she buried a three.

At the end of the game, CMU made two free throws with 3.6 seconds to go to tie the score, UB called TO and advanced the ball to the forecourt, side out (girls now use the NBA rule at the end of the game to advance the ball. They then inbounced the ball to point guard Stephanie Reid and she drove to the right of the lane and hit a high arching runner for the gamewinner.

Two terrific calls and plays by UB's coach made the difference.
