I really believe this is gonna happen:
Just my idea of what would not surprise me in the next realignment !

The New SEC: (16)

1)Alabama

2)Auburn

3)LSU

4)Miss St

5)Ole Miss

6)Arkansas

7)Texas A&M

8)Oklahoma (new addition)

9)Tennessee

10)Florida

11)Georgia

12)South Carolina

13)Missouri

14)Vanderbilt

15)Florida State (new addition)

16)Virginia Tech (new addition)

The New Big 12: (14)

1)TCU

2)Oklahoma St

3)Baylor

4)West Virginia

5)Texas Tech

6)Texas

7)Kansas St

8)Iowa St

9)Kansas

10)Cincinnati (new addition)

11)UCONN ( new addition)

12)BYU (new addition)

13)Louisville (new addition)

14)Houston (new addition)

The New ACC (12)

1)North Carolina

2)Virginia

3)Duke

4)Pittsburgh

5)Miami

6)Georgia Tech

7)Clemson

8)North Carolina St

9)Syracuse

10)Wake Forest

11)Boston College

12)Maryland (new addition)

The New AAC: (14)

1)Temple

2)South Florida

3)East Carolina

4)Central Florida

5)Navy

6)Marshall (new addition)

7)Western Kentucky (new addition)

8)Memphis

9)Tulsa

10)SMU

11)Tulane

12)Southern Miss (new addition)

13)La Tech (new addition)

14)UAB (new addition)

Even though the ACC loses 3 teams, which had them at 14..but they only add one more to keep it at 12 members. The Big 12 adds as much as 5 teams to get to 14. The SEC adds 3 to keep the title as the most powerful conference in college football. The AAC adds 5 new teams.

The Big 10, I have no clue as to what they may do.

No thanks. That division would be the absolute worst possible scenario for Clemson.

No way Louisville leaves the ACC for the Big XII & give up playing Clemson/Florida State in football and UNC/Duke/Syracuse in Basketball...07-coffee3

RE: I really believe this is gonna happen:
so much fail... where to start?

Kentucky leaves the SEC (to where)? Maryland leaves the Big Ten to return to the ACC? Louisville leaves the ACC to go to the Big XII? NONE of those things will ever happen.

The only plausible moves I see here are OU, FSU and VT to the SEC - but a most 2 of the 3, IMO. Cincinnati and BYU to the Big XII are somewhat more fanciful.

UK leaving the SEC? Louisville will not leave the ACC for a B12 without Oklahoma, much less without FSU & Clemson coming to.

RE: I really believe this is gonna happen:
I don't see much of anything happening other than the Big12 finally agreeing to not to agree on expansion.

If the SEC wanted to expand and trim the fat they should look into dumping Kentucky and picking up Oklahoma and Texas as well as Kansas.

The ACC then invites Kentucky and introduces West Virginia giving the conference 3 of the best rivalry games to date with Tobacco Road UNC - Duke, Battle of the Bluegrass Louisville - Kentucky, and the Backyard Brawl Pittsburgh - WVU.

The BigTen finally lands Notre Dame and adds Iowa State to the mix.

The PAC12 looks at schools from the left overs of the Big12, BYU, as well as Boise State. Yes the academics will play a role, but maybe they will see the pickings are slim on the west coast, but then again they could go with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech or agree that the Boise and BYU would add plenty to their network.

The others will be picked up between the AAC and the MountainWest.

RE: I really believe this is gonna happen:
I know this will not happen, but I'm bored, and after looking at it I would prefer the ACC to lock in Notre Dame and pick up West Virginia. Also down the road NBC, CBS will merge with ESPN and ABC. This would clear the way for NBC to host the ACC Network and CBS picking up the BIG12 Network with ESPN keeping the SEC Network. Fox getting full rights to the BigTen as well as PAC12 along with the Big East and host of other conferences.

Well since we are throwing out impossible scenarios, here's one to top them all!

Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State & Maryland join the ACC & brings ND all in. The B1GN becomes the ACCN.

ACC
West: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburgh

North: ND, Louisville, Syracuse, BC, Maryland

East: NC, Duke, Virginia, VT, Miami

South: FSU, Clemson, GT, NC State, WF

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern & Indiana join the Big 12.

Big 12
North: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa State, Iowa

Central: Oklahoma, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Purdue, WV

South: Texas, TT, Baylor, TCU, Kansas, Kansas State

RE: I really believe this is gonna happen:
Texas is not joining the SEC, they don't like the academics and have plainly stated as much. OU will not leave for the SEC unless forced to do so. Either or both would go West, North or East prior to going South, and only if it is in their interest to blow up the Big 12.

Mizzou likely will not leave the SEC for the B1G. At best, that is a lateral move, at worst, a bad long term choice from a conference that toyed with them but ultimately rejected them.

Louisville is not going to the Big 12. Why would they? Travel, opponents, recruiting are all in their favor being in the ACC over the Big 12.

FSU and Clemson are not going to the SEC or the Big 12. The Big 12 offers ridiculous travel, for those that don't like Syracuse, Pittsburg and Beantown as travel destinations, how will they like the Big 12 destinations? Regarding the SEC, Why would the SEC want them as they already cover these states (no market reason to do so), UF and USC would have no real interest in the conference as they already have them on the schedule; as for FSU and Clemson, they have the ACC for the foreseeable future, why give up a reasonably easy path to the playoffs for a much tougher road which would end up more like mediocrity.
