Sometimes it is just better to not work with family.

RE: Idaho HC Turns Down Louisville OC Job
He'd have been stupid to leave now. He just put in 3 difficult years turning the program around. With a 6-29 lifetime record, he'd never get another HC job again, but Idaho is poised to be pretty good the next couple years. put together a bowl season or two and he becomes known as a turnaround artist and an attractive candidate for another head job. And if it doesn't work out he can always go to work for his brother later.

Plus, his kid joins the team next year. I bet we have him for another couple years at least.

Exactly. Nailed it.
He wants to succeed in his own right. He can always go be the OC or assistant for his big brother.

Do y'all have a brother? Would you want to work for your brother unless you had to?

He should have been fired last season but Idaho doesn't care about their sports.

Totally agree with this. He'll be there until his son uses up his eligibility unless Idaho fires him down the line. Petrino has put a lot of hard work in for Idaho in an effort to turn the FB program around. And if they did fire him who would want the job with that future cloud hanging over the programs head. To bad about the Sunbelt decision. They should have given Idaho and NMST at least one more 4 year extension while future potential realignment threats still hang out there especially with the B-12 rumors floating around. The new requirements for 10 team conferences for a Conference Championship Game helped the B-12 but really gave the Sunbelt a chance to stick it to Idaho and NMST. Good luck on the universities future path and decisions.

Considering that he worked under his brother at Louisville, Arkansas and Utah State, and both brothers played for their dad at Carroll College in Montana I'm pretty sure not wanting to work with each other had exactly nothing to do with the decision.

I still can't believe Idaho hired to goof in the first place.
