If pastner leaves here on his own to take the TCU job
Do we still have to pay him $10.6m?

I guess the more important question is would he leave on his own to take another job

Key problem? TCU ain't paying $10.6M over 4 years, and therein lies the rub.

You would hope that he comes to Bowen and says he'll take it for a reduced lump sum buyout.

Other jobs opening up today: Rutgers, St. Louis. I could see Pastner in play for the SLU job.

None of the TCU alums on my street know anything about this.

But, they would probably like him.

Either one of those would be good landing spots. Just someone take him please.

If he refuses to take the offer unless we pay him $X then we have to pay him $X, fire him and pay him $2,650,000 per year for 4 years or let him coach next year and pay him $2,650,000 and for the next 3 years after that.

Pastner holds all the cards..

Would he still have to pay his agent the commission on $10.6 million? I bet he would.

SLU is a Jesuit school, so I seriously doubt it

The bottom line is, we fire him, we owe him 10.6 million the remaining contract. He breaks the contract to take another job, he pays us 500,000.

Which has 0.0% chance of happening, The third option is that Pastner finds someone dumber than us to offer him a job, he negotiates a buyout of his current contract (i.e. we pay him $1,500,000 per year for 4 years) he takes the other job

You want it to be one way. But it's the other way.

TCU AD Chris Del Conte said after season-ending loss to WVU that he will meet with coach Trent Johnson this weekend or early next week.

Asked about Trent Johnson and next season, TCU AD Chris Del Conte said: "I'm not going to discuss any of that stuff today."

Only 2 problems with this scenario....

1. Surely no AD is stupid enough to hire this clown

2. Surely this clown is not stupid enough to walk away from the worst (best for him) contract in the history of college basketball
