RE: Last 3 years in basketball
I would argue that ND and Mike Brey have stepped up their game in the ACC versus their Big East performance.
ND won the ACC tournament last season, beating Duke and North Carolina to do so.
Here are the number of ACC conference wins the past two seasons (before the current tournament):
Virginia 29
Duke 26
Notre Dame 25
N.Carolina 25
Louisville 24
Miami 23
ND basketball is hanging in there with the old ACC bluebloods.

I totally agree... They are the only one that you could argue has improved since moving to the NACC....

There was no way for SU and Louisville to have improved. Those 2 teams were already winning BE tourney and regular season championships and going to final fours before going to the ACC. Both teams had won at least 30 games each of the 3 seasons before going to the ACC, I believe. Louisville won the national championship. Both were national championship contenders.
Syracuse is really the only team to take a step back since going to the ACC. Louisville is about the same. So is Pitt. Their decline started in the BE. Dixon will get them back up to par. As far as SU, they had a lull like this back in 07 and 08 before Boeheim went on a stretch of 30 win seasons. SU should be pretty good next year when they get a real center, a 7'3 center transfer from Providence. SU was hurt this season because of Tyler Ennis and Chris McCullough both being one and done going to the NBA early the last couple of years. SU also had another center lined up from Africa who was'nt cleared to attend SU in time and had to spend a year in Junior college. He will be at SU next season too. I don't think I have ever seen so many teams make their living against SU by scoring so many points in the paint.
ND really has stepped it up, surprisingly. I don't think they ever won anything in the BE. Don't remember if they ever played for a BE tourney title game. They better keep Brey. The guy is a good coach. And he's pretty classy too. Wouldn't mind having him roaming the sidelines of the Carrier Dome if Hopkins doesn't work out.
