RE: Conference Tourney Attendance
There you go again...

you really do have a anger problem. Hell with that temper you probably kicked your dog a lot this season. What in the hell do you keep bringing up something from well over a year ago? Honestly it has nothing to do with the now...

25-30 ODU fans at this tourney.

You can cuss get angry call me names what ever you want...

it still will not change the fact a so called basketball school has no one at a conference tourney to support their team. OK maybe 25-30 parents

RE: Conference Tourney Attendance
Have no clue how many are at the tourney, but confident it is more that you advertise.

However, even if there were none, the fate of your team, or my team, is settled on the floor. And I never can recall a NCAA tourney seed being lowered because the prophet WKUYG felt the team's attendance was lacking based upon his own subjective criteria. Shut up and enjoy the games, and quit worrying about how other people experience them.

RE: Conference Tourney Attendance
Don't take my word for it ask one of the ODU fans...

oh hell what was I thinking. Those 25-30 parents probably don't care if you believe it or not...they showed up.

As for the this not affecting what happens on the floor...well this board would be a lonely place if we only got to talk about things that affect the play. NOTHING said on this or any board has any thing to do with that.

Again don't get mad because I pointed out OU's 25-30 fans/parents that actually showed up. I seem to recall something about teams needing to act "bigtime" or something like that. Well supporting your program in a conference tourney goes a long way with that.

Want to be a basketball school? Then act like it

Again with the "shoulds". In Politics and Engineering, the word "should" either obligates one group of people to pay for something used by another, or excuses the lack of practical application knowledge of a blueprint engineer versus an applied engineer. Either way, people are either hurt, screwed, or killed.

You "should" worry about those things within your sphere of influence, which you obviously have appeared to inflate.

Maybe the ODU fan is disappointed four east teams had to go west to settle who is going to be the conference champion. I say the east teams cut bait with the west teams and add 3 east teams. Then they can add NMS, Idaho, & Grand Canyon and UTEP can be the center of their conference.

RE: Conference Tourney Attendance
Impressive number of Marshall fans. More than MTSU and almost more than WKU yesterday. This surprised me. I guess the MTSU fans were at the women's game.

Still a number of UAB fans stuck around and I suspect some of us will be there tonight and tomorrow.

That said its a poor showing By CUSA fan bases. Worse than last year. Worse than any tournament I have ever seen. (Old sun belt was better, have not seen a new sun belt that some of you mention) to me the Marshall crowd was the most impressive due to distance. Talked to many fans and everyone I talked to was great. Just wish we had more of them.

What's clear is this whole league needs to step up (including us) this can't be argued. We can stop whining about locatin because unless the host team is in it attendance will be off. Ba neutral site is just a horrible idea. We can't even fill up our own arenas much less travel to a brutal site. Yes I'm complaining about UABs fans as well so no hate mail.

I can't make it to the first semi today but I'll be at the second. Once we got bounced I came back to work rather than using a vacation day.

Do you have any idea what things were like at the women's tournament?

I'm curious as to whether or not some of our fans were at that same, since it was taking place at the same time.

RE: Conference Tourney Attendance
I'm surprised folks are taking this so seriously, but I expect things to be pretty good from here on out. Host aside, all the teams still remaining present the biggest chance at folks coming down. WKU is playing the best basketball and they just put down the one seed so I can see their fans coming out now that the train is definitely well on track. ODU has passionate fans so I expect a lot of them to find a way to make it. Marshall is always dedicated when big games are on the menu, and MT is the closest and surely wants some revenge.

Going to be some good games.

Not many I would guess 25. I spoke to a couple that said Marshall would have 200-300 {sounds like maybe even more} at the men game.

ODU is closer to Boston, Massachusetts than it is to Birmingham, Alabama. Going to the CUSA tourney is not just your average drive - it's a whole day of traveling (at least 10.5 hours) without even considering stops. Bring the tournament to a neighboring state (preferably within 6 hours) and then the complaints against ODU's fan attendance will be valid.

Yes MT fans were at the ladies game yesterday. We had a few sections of fans. I would guess we have 500+ for today's game(s).

Norfolk to Birmingham is 11 hr 8 mins without stops.
Bowling Green to Birmingham is 3 hr 41 mins
Murfreesboro to Birmingham 2 hr 50 mins
Huntington to Birmingham is 7 hr 45 mins

All this is based on google maps. I can't possibly imagine why some schools don't have the same number of fans as others.

Again a ODU fan is completely missing the point....

EVERY school needs that core group of fans that will go where the team goes in a conference tourney. Surely out of a 7,000 average ODU should have a couple hundred.

Let's host the conference tournament in Toronto and see how many Toppers fans show up.

Hint: Not many.

Western and MUTS always had a core group of fans to attend the SBC tourney even when UNT hosted. The least I can remember Western having was a couple hundred and that number grew by championship night if Western was still playing

Again we have one more ODU fan that just doesn't get it....a basketball school should have that core

Now I'm finished getting ready to head over to the arena

It's weird how many ODU fans with legitimate arguments "just don't get it". Maybe you just don't have a point.

You're confused. Excuses AREN'T legitimate arguments...

I guess Marshall fans have more money. More time. Or maybe don't work...for a football school they have a great

CORE GROUP of fans
