Looking ahead to 3/15 TCU game
Interesting article on TCU pitching coach, former Cal State Fullerton player, Kirk Saarloos. TCU has definitely been recruiting some pitching.

Hopefully we can make some adjustments and play a more competitive game with TCU. This article on Kirk Sarloos is an example of what high level recruiting coordinators do. I am not sure we have a guy like him on our staff.

He's light years ahead of anyone we have on the staff.

Hopefully, JK and WG have a meeting with him when he's in town on Tuesday and gauge his interest in the 'coach in waiting' position at Rice. He's basically College baseball's Tom Hermann. Schlossnagle isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It would be nice to have the administration hear firsthand how modern day baseball recruiting an scholarship packages are made by teams who are committed to performing at the highest level.

RE: Looking ahead to 3/15 TCU game
Saarloos is great and will likely get a shot to run his own program soon but make no mistake, Schlossnagle is the genius. His ability to identify diamonds (Preston Morrison, etc), develop pitchers (Brandon Finnegan, etc) and secure players who "should" go to the pros (Matt Purke, Luken Baker, etc) is uncanny. And only 44. He will have HOF numbers by the time he is 50.

Also, keep an eye on Josh Elander as a hot prospect coach as soon as next year, at least as an assistant at a major program. Former TCU/Team USA great, 2013 Braves system POY and great young man, Elander is adding to tremendous hitting instruction already in place. I anticipate that Coach Schlossnagle will credit Elander with having a huge impact on their young hitters.
