The team that finished in sixth place in the standings (5 seed) may be the best team in the field and two teams that were probably middle of the pack in terms of talent were the top 2 seeds. It wouldn't even surprise me if both Houston and Temple were underdogs, even if only slightly, should they make the second round.

Any of the top 6 seeds can win it.

I see the winner as Memphis, Cincy, Conn, or Houston. Tulsa depends too much on an outside game and Temple has peaked imho.

The Cincinnati-Uconn game is basically the championship game right there.

...I mean the national championship.

Temple has a national championship in 1938. This was the NIT, and it was one year before the NCAA tournament was established.

is it parity, or is it mediocrity?

If it was a stock, American basketball would be undervalued and a huge buy.

Houston would have one if John Wooden and especially Jim Valvano hadn't sold their souls to the basketball gods.

I think it will be Houston and UConn in the championship. I think it will be hard for UC and Temple to beat UConn 3 times. Houston is playing really well right now. Only negative is that's it's been over a week since their last game.

Thankfully they'll likely be playing UCF and though they're the homestanding team, UH matches up well with them and should be okay even if they come out rusty.

If there is another sleeper not named Memphis, I look toward UCF with Tacko Fall and the hometown advantage, though it will be subdued playing in such a large arena. But if they make the finals, we could see close to a sellout crowd.

And if we jump out on them big, we can rest the starters for the big boys.

Memphis will beat Tulsa. Memphis is too strong inside for Tulsa. Tulsa is a soft. Book it.
