Sending some love to the Huskie grapplers who had an outstanding MAC championship in Ypsilanti over the weekend. Scored 65 team points, the most since 2004. The big news is that 4 out of 10 wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Championships at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Its been nine years since the team sent four wrestlers to the NCAA tournament.

The MAC conference in wrestling is one of the best in the country and receives the 2nd most automatic bids in the country. Loaded with great wrestling teams like Missouri, Northern Iowa, Central Michigan, Kent State, and Ohio.

Congrats to Coach Ludwig and his squad.

I noticed the AAC doesn't have wrestling, if we leave does the MAC allow our program to stay?

I would think so. Wrestling is its own beast. Just like Missouri is an associate member of the MAC for wrestling (coming from Big 12). As is Northern Iowa coming from Missouri Valley or whatever their in.

Only about 100 DI programs still alive in wrestling.

Missouri is in the SEC. I am really surprised that SEC schools don't wrestle.

Wrestling is weak in Florida. Only ~390 of over 2300 high schools have teams. I'd guess it's the same in the rest of the SE.

That's probably correct. College and HS basketball fare a little bit better than wrestling, mainly because UF won a couple of NCAA round ball titles. Football is king, baseball the prince down here.

That is impressive for the Huskie wrestlers. I knew NIU had a wrestling team, I just did not know how good they were. I expect to see SF give them game balls at a Huskie football game next season.

Scott wins again!! Sadly it was for Cornell this time. In all seriousness though, he moves into the round of 12 tonight. VERY IMPRESSIVE.

That was only by the announcer.



A few years back the NCAA had our wrestlers listed as coming from UNI on the official bracket.
