NU next year
Has the talent and potential to be a good team, but it all depends on the improvement of Jeremy Miller and Anthony Green this off-season.

My starting 5 for 2016-17...

F - 6-10 Anthony Green, Soph.
F - 6-10 Jeremy Miller, Soph.
G - 6-7 Jimmy Marshall, Sr.
G - 6-3 TJ Williams, Sr.
G - 6-0 Donnell Gresham, Soph.

Bench...
F - 6-8 Kwesi Abakah, Sr.
G - 6-5 Brandon Kamga, Soph.
F - 6-11 Sajon Ford, Soph.
F - 6-8 Ty Groce, Fr.
G - 6-5 Bolden Brace, Fr.

I have a feeling 6-4 guard Devon Begley will transfer. He just looks frustrated with his role this year.

If Green gets into better shape and Miller puts on some muscle and a few low post moves, we'll be good in the front court.

Miller will be the go-to guy next year.

Green in the middle allows Miller and Marshall to play around the perimeter and shoot 3's when its there.

Williams ability to get into the paint and Gresham' s decision making and handle make for a good backcourt.

I don't like to talk about Freshman because they're unpredictable at our level, but Groce is the best of the 3 coming in. Brace is a lights out shooter.

RE: NU next year
Completely agree on Begley. I'd be surprised if he doesn't transfer. He's too good to be rotting on the bench. With TJ coming back, and Gresham waiting in the wings, I don't see Coen playing him more next season unless he has a change of heart.

While we have a few point guards on the team, now we don't have any shooting guards. With Walker and Donnelly gone, we don't have any sort of pull up threat for a jumper. Even Ford at 6' 8" had that. I could see Gresham developing there. I also think Kamga has a ton of potential, and could step into a starting role next season. If Brace is as good of a shooter has we hear, then he'll have every opportunity to find a starting role next season.

I also agree Miller will be the focal point of our offense. Put some muscle on him and he'll be something. Also love Green, I think he'll get a lot of playing time next year.

Unless there are any surprises, I don't think this team will finish in the top half of the league next season. We will probably fall in the bottom 4, but be competitive in most games. I think Miller and TJ have a chance at All CAA next season, we'll see how it goes.

Looks like Kamga is transferring. Shame, we will definitely have a shortage of shooting guards next season.

I'm so pissed off about this. But he's another list of the annual yearly transfers for NU hoops.

I wish Bill Coen would take another job somewhere. I'm tired of him.

You could always take Bruiser, I hear he is available. I think this is the first time I have heard someone say they didnt like Coen. Seems like he does a great job up there.

NU almost did back in 2001. We hired Everhart over Flint.

And most of you guys overrate Coen. He's had very good talent and its rare that we finish in the bottom of the CAA, yet his overall record is barely .500.

Non-NU fans are much higher on Coen than NU fans for sure.

Questionable player management is what always gets me the most about him

I stopped defending Coen when he gave Kwesi non garbage time minutes. It's hard enough to win in our league when you have five guys on the court...let alone four.

Thanks. I wish I could be as optimistic as you about next year. It looks like a bottom four finish to me.....especially since Coen will probably play your starters until they drop. I guess miracles are always possible but that's what Anthony needs if he's going to contribute this year. Groce had a couple of monster games earlier in his senior season (against some lesser teams). My pick for best freshman is Shawn O. We'll see.

From what I hear Groce is the best of the 3 freshmen coming in and he may grow a little more.
