WBB-Who ya got for POY
I figure COY is a no brainer for Keitha Adams.
FOY will most likely go to Caitlin Jenkins of USM. She's the top scoring freshman and is second in the league overall for rebounding.
But POY is a tossup. You can make good cases for Jennie Simms from ODU, Brea Edwards from MT or Jenzel Nash from UTEP. But if I had a vote, I would select Kendall Noble from WKU.
Noble did everything well. She was 3rd in scoring, 11th in rebounding, 2nd in assists, 2nd in steals and 9th in blocks.
So who do you pick?

RE: WBB-Who ya got for POY
Lots of good players in the league this season. When you have this many good teams, I tend to look at the top teams in the league to see who should get POY.
UTEP was such a well-rounded team this season that it's hard to pinpoint which player was the best (just like UAB's men's team).
Middle Tennessee obviously has Brea Edwards. Her ability to shoot from the outside is amazing, and should no doubt be recognized.
However, with me trying to take my red-tinted glasses off, I think Kendall Noble is the POY from WKU. When you look at statistics, she is up there in almost every single category. Points, rebounds, steals, assists...she's up there in every single one, and she's also on the all-defensive team, and an Academic All-American.
Hard to argue any of these players, because they are all so good, and I'm not even mentioning some of the others that stand out (Simms in particular). I just think Noble rises to the top statistically.

Simms, by a tiny margin
She has carried a bad ballclub to the 5th seed by scoring 30+ 4x and 20+ 11 other times

I am rather surprised that Johnson got FOY. While the scoring average or Jenkins and Johnson were fairly close, Jenkins was dominant on the boards. Not sure how you can be the only freshman on the 1st or 2nd team and NOT be named FOY.

Now you see what we have gripped about since you guys came in the league. Every award is handed to a mt or wku player. Especially the pre season awards. Jenkins was the top freshman re bounder in the country and one of the leaders in blocks.

I don't think this would be too reasonable, but could it be argued that Johnson earned the award because of her "tougher" place on the team with other good players whereas Jenkins came in with a giant void to fill and just racked up stats? I'm not too familiar with USM lady hoops other than the fact that Jenkins is a terrific rebounder but Johnson is the most athletic post we've had at MT in a while and dominated against other CUSA teams, drawing at least a double team in every game and still putting up big figures except for the opener vs UAB. From an innate skill standpoint, Johnson is one of the best posts (any year) in our league. From what I saw of Jenkins (6pt, 6reb, 0blk, 1stl) vs Johnson (12pt, 3rb, 1blk, 2stl) Alex did seem to be the better player however that was just one game so it is not a good reason to say she's definitely better.
And Noble is definitely deserving of CUSA POY. Edwards was good this year too, and a first team selection is very appropriate. I was impressed by Noble in our games (not as much in the first, but moreso in the later match up).

This is a high schoolish popular vote with some rules attached. Votes are from the coaches, sid from each school and your media (radio) person. The coaches and sid's are not allowed to vote for your own. Radio can but most honor the coaches rules. You guys have taken tulanes place in making sure you vote for your own no matter who does what.
Jenkins was the leading freshman rebounder in the country. The leading shot blocker in the league and in the top 5 freshman in the country. The last i looked only a freshman from uab had more points per game. Alot of block voting based strictly on reputations and whos who goes into the pre and post season voting in this league.

Like I said, she collected stats but wasn't the best freshman.

Forgot to mention i laughed at her being a biology major. When i was growing up, our neighbor had a son lots older than me but he taught biology at Western for a long time. Dr Stan Brumfield.
