We will see a very focused and determined Rockets team on Monday. I do not think that we will get past Akron, though. Despite our win over them earlier this year, Akron is the better team.
Thompson is a talented player, no doubt, but he also showed last night why he's playing for Eastern Michigan and not Michigan State. After Thompson fouled out with the game basically over, the EMU coaches were falling all over themselves and each other trying to prevent Thompson from getting a technical foul for taunting and trash-talking.
I think they should have given him a T anyway. When you jaw at the other bench in the manner he did (3 times no less) they should have called it. The officiating didn't help them last night either.
If they want to beat Eastern on Monday, they need to find an answer for Bond. I'm not sure they have one.

Have had season tickets all year, this team can't play defense, rebound or make a good play when they need to. Watching the game last night, I saw a team with no energy, and idea on how to stop EMU late in the game last night, this goes back to coaching. I hope MOB sits down with Coach K and a heart to heart talk with him. This team should not have lost 5 out of the last 6. I get very tired watching our guards walk the ball up the court and have to look at coach K to see what play to run. Are these kids that dumb? It even happened last, when Juice Brown was the point guard. I'm going to think very hard about season tickets for next year.

I don't expect MOB to do anything of the sort. This is the same AD that kept giving Campbell extensions even though he never won the West Division let alone a MAC championship AND had teams that routinely folded in the conference games that mattered the most. As long as both bball teams & football have at least winning seasons it appears that he's good with it; "lesser" sports are allowed to languish in mediocrity or less.
I like Coach K. Want to see him succeed here (meaning: win a MAC title). This season was going to be a tough one no matter what. It was made tougher by the fact that more than half of our freshmen class was not able to be a factor on the court. That's something TK has to reconcile for himself. The losing streak to end the season, including games at home and games that we had second-half leads in, are what really made this season a disappointment for me, anyway. 8-10 in the MAC? OK--if we had won our last 2 or 3 down the stretch to get there and looked like we were playing better. But this was a team that at one point was 7-5 in conference play--and finished 1-5 down the stretch. That won't work next season.

Trying to be optimistic on next season. Having a true point guard emerge, and the continued improvement of the younger guys will hinge on having a successful season. Some guys really need to bulk up or get toned. A lot of teams pushed the Rockets around this year, with the exception of Booth.

I agree Stuckey really faltered down the stretch and it looks like Rogers is not as good as I had hoped. Having a true point guard was necessary. I don't think Coach K wanted to bring 1 in but he realized he had to and he did it.

RE: Thoughts From the Optimist
Look at this roster folks.....SEVEN Freshman...17-14......I think that is respectable. Inconsistencies came from the likes of JonJon. The problem is that no other upper classman has improved as much as Boothe. Questions going forward. Can Williams, Lauf and Garber lead this team next year. Garber has made strides, Lauf is worthless offensively and Williams is Jeckyl and Hyde. Which of the freshman emerge as leaders. Sanford will be one....who else
1 Jonathan Williams G 6-3 180 Jr. Southfield, MI / Southfield-Lathrup
2 Taylor Adway F 6-9 210 Fr. Hazel Crest, IL / Hillcrest
3 Stuckey Mosley G 6-3 180 So. Orlando, FL / Timber Creek
4 Fred John Jr. F 6-5 205 Fr. Southfield, MI / Lathrup
5 Chandler White G 6-2 195 Fr. Fort Wayne, IN / Carroll
10 Nick Rogers G 6-1 170 Fr. Indianapolis, IN / Traders Point Christian Academy - Elev8 Institute (FL)
13 Jaelan Sanford G 6-4 195 Fr. Evansville, IN / Reitz
23 Steve Taylor Jr. F 6-7 240 Sr. Chicago, IL / Simeon - Marquette
25 Jordan Lauf G 6-5 190 Jr. Napoleon, OH / Napoleon
30 Luke Knapke F/C 6-11 210 Fr. Minster, OH / Marion Local
33 Zach Garber C 6-10 240 Jr. Carey, OH / Vanlue
35 Nate Navigato F 6-8 215 Fr. Geneva, IL / Geneva
53 Nathan Boothe C 6-9 250 Sr. Gurnee, IL / Warren Township

AND he has a verbal from another PG who would be coming in the class after next. Pretty clear that he knows he needs an answer at PG by the time Sanford/Navigato/Knapke are seniors. We will just have to wait & see if either of those PGs pan out.

RE: Thoughts From the Optimist
Trying to come up with something positive for tomorrow night.
Is there an advantage for the Rockets, being they will be playing against the zone for the 3rd time this season, and the second time in 3 days? Hopefully it is some sort of an advantage Monday Night.

Can EMU win 3 straight over the Rockets? I say not, UT to win in another close one.

To me, the past couple games the Rockets looked like they were basically out of gas and coasting. EMU is more athletic and and home. The Rockets certainly have the potential to challenge, but I think the Eagles will buckle down and take the W. Not meaning to be negative, just realistic based on what I have seen. Would be cool to see the Rockets light the afterburners and make a statement, though.
