Texas WANTS a national following though...they WANT to be National

They just don't know how to make it happen. They are afraid to let go of the regionality, but want their own network.

If Texas got the same kind of ND deal, they'd have partial FB games, and they'd get in to ACC basketball....it would be a huge step up

Texas may want a national following but they will not play the schedule to acquire a national following. ND got the following by playing the places the play year in and year out. ND has earned the national following. Aside from Navy, Army and Air Force (to a much lesser degree), no team will hold a national following like ND. A team can be hot for a while, but the bandwagon fans will hop off once another light shines brighter.

Miami, OU, FSU, USC, tOSU, UM, UNL, et al., can all say remember when, but the nationwide "fans" were only fair weather fans.

Texas is no BYU.

ND isn't a transitional member.

Whatever we're calling it for propriety's sake, we should only have one of them at a time.

I think Texas in the ACC is silly, but if we're going to invite "traveling partners" from down that way, how about Rice and Tulane?

Crazy how the term "traveling partner" is used these days.

Rice & Tulane? Is this the ACC or the AAC? You can have good academics & athletics, it's not either or.

Sports is up and down; as institutions they're good fits, with lots of money and lots of alums who would like to see them do well. CUSA and the AAC aren't exactly good launching pads. And that's all I'm saying on that. Welcome to the ACC, by the way!

No one on these boards are posting because of academics. It's about our sports affiliation with each other.

Rice and Tulane are indeed fine academic institutions, but they are pathetic in terms of athletics. But hey, if you hope they get in someday, fine.

Cheers,
Neil

We'll take Rice & Tulane if Texas & Oklahoma come with them.

True, but if Texas and OU didn't go to the PAC when they were with more traditional partners TTU and Okla State why would any one even think there is a possibility of it happening with Rice and Tulane?

At a certain point in time, shouldn't common sense be applied?

Cheers,
Neil
