Cards block a shot and get possession. They run out the clock. Rockets lose 68-58

Toledo the #4 seed, Will play winner of 5/12 matchup, likely Akron at 2:30pm Wednesday in Cleveland.

McIntyre got schooled a bit today, and Janice disappeared as she does sometimes. Harris is the one player who can always be counted on to show up.

I would hope a 5th year senior would be consistent.

RE: WBB: Ball State at Toledo game thread
It was ill omen when the Lady Rockets had 3 turn overs in their 4 four possessions. They looked kind of flat to me for most the game, and even during their push in the last 5 minutes of the game, they didn't look all that sharp although they did get a couple of 3's to fall which helped make it a bit more interesting for a short while.

Frankly I couldn't tell how much of their lackluster performance was on them and how much was due to the Ball State defense, but although McIntyre got 6 points the Rocket post play was essentially shut down and at times it seemed that except for Harris the Rockets were intimidated by the Ball State defense to the point they were afraid to shoot----I bet Harris took between 1/3 and 1/2 if all the shots that the Rockets threw up this afternoon because at times she was to only one willing (or able) to take a shot.

The good news is that recently the Ladies have been able to bounce from a loss with a high octane performance and a solid win, a streak that I hope will continue because their next opponent will probably be Akron who beat the Rockets by 10 point in their only encounter earlier in the season.

We dodged EMU... That's all I ask for. Winning would have been ironic, getting the 3 and being on the EMU 6 line.

Good point. Facing Akron seems more doable.

RE: WBB: Ball State at Toledo game thread
As the "kool-aid" drinker (actually I prefer scotch or a beer) I saw some good things in the game in spite of a first half, where good shoots were not falling in. Always wondered who is responsible for putting a cover over the Rocket's basket at certain times. I think we should remind them to cover the visiting teams basket not ours.

Bad news is open shoots weren't falling, but the good news is the team showed amazing character by coming back in the second half from 17 points down against a very good team. Most teams would have packed it in and just played the game out. In contrast to the Men's team, who seem to find ways to lose close games at the end, the Women's team has won a lot of games in the final minutes. To me that demonstrates the great coaching job the coaches have done throughout the season, the leadership of the two seniors, and the entire team buying into the concept of never give up remain confident in each other. That attitude will be a positive carry over to future teams.

One more thought, if Coach C. would have worried about her personal record, instead of the slow growth of this team, it might have been a 20 win season. Just food for thought.

GO BLUE!!!!!
