Is Trump REALLY expanding the party, or are Democrats just momentarily switching over where they can to vote for him (since Hillary is already a foregone conclusion) knowing he will be the easiest person to beat in the general?

Certainly raises that question. Trump's biggest win was with 200k Democratic cross-over votes in Massachusetts.

Very interesting.07-coffee3

Watching the counties in Kentucky report in is giving me some hope. The Eastern Kentucky (Appalachia) counties are going Trump by big numbers. This is a sparsely populated area. This area is coal mining area with high dropout rates and little college education.

I'm encouraged by what I've seen in the couple of far Western Kentucky counties. Cruz is beating Trump. This area isn't as sparsely populated as Eastern Kentucky and the education level is a little higher.

Still many counties to go and Trump is leading at the moment but Eastern Kentucky is on the Eastern Time Zone so they're reporting much quicker than Western Kentucky.

Also, no heavily populated counties have reported yet...meaning Daviess, Warren, Jefferson, Fayette, Boone, Kenton, Hardin.

Are some of these states using carrier pigeons to send in the results? The polling places have been closed 3 hours in Kentucky and we're still just at 14 pct results? Maine no better.

Good question. Typically, all elections in Kentucky are done with voting machines but for this Caucus today, all voting was on paper ballots. This is the first time they've done a Caucus in Kentucky. They're hand counting everything.

Sanders will probably win Nebraska too. But Clinton will destroy Bernie in Louisiana, and the press will talk about her big night.

Kasich couldn't even place in Maine and that is his demographics. I know a lot of people in Ohio like him. He seems like someone who should play a big role. A lot of accomplishments. But the is no way he can beat Trump, and if he did, the Clinton machine would crush him.

4 of the 6 Kentucky Counties in the Central Time Zone have gone Cruz. And...the first somewhat urban area to report in the entire state (Paducah, McCracken County) went Cruz by 14% over Trump. We could start to see that Trump lead shrinking now.

Trump lead in Kentucky has shrunk from 13% to 8.5% in just the last few minutes as more Northern and Western counties are reporting. Also, no reports from the 5 largest urban areas yet so you gotta figure Trump's lead will continue to shrink. I'm feeling a little more confident in Cruz at this point.

I realize you know Kentucky a lot better than someone from Texas, but I don't think Cruz can make up 6000 votes? Even in a big county like Boone, he only beat Trump by 300 votes there. He can gain a bit more in Lexington and Louisville, but it seems like the rest of the counties are tiny? I bet you Trump is declared the winner there before the end of this hour.

Yes, but realize that in Boone County (a Cincinnati suburb), Kasich got a lot of votes (21% to Trump's 29 and Cruz's 34%). That won't happen to that degree in Jefferson, Daviess, Warren, Fayette. Those four counties have about 1.3 million people. 6,000 is nothing.

Trump lead now down to 6%. Still don't have the largest urban areas in. Trump up 5,000. Only 41% reporting so far.

Interesting that Marco and Kasich combined have over 24,000 votes at this time. Ky seems to be the most hotly contested debate between the 4 candidates thus far. Everyone might get delegates.

Dumb question... What's keeping a delegate from not voting for the guy they're supposed to?

From what I understand the R's and D's have different rules and there is potential for a delegate to cast a different vote.
