and yet, no article in the comical either on yesterday's BB game nor Max Guercy on senior day. Yet, an article today on cougar high's loss to Baylor and a weekly column on those bozos. I guess we have descended to the level of UST, TSU, and HBU.

Anything that ranks LSU above us and refers to "academic quality" is ridiculous.

Regardless, I just pleased that Rice made a college baseball top 10!

FIFY
It's a subjective and synthesized metric (i.e., in the world of actual statistical analysis, ), and quite honestly, I am exponentially more qualified to comment on such things than whatever muppet wrote that "article" anyway.
But, y'know, that's the "beauty" of the internet for most people: publish something that is seemingly semi-coherent on a high-traffic website, get some clicks and attention.

Rice should worry when we aren't even part of the conversation. The beauty of the SWC (before the internet and instant "news" where "big data" decides what we should read based on our previous searches) was that the print and radio media perceived us as part of the conversation in the region, Rice was treated as a peer institution and smart "unconventional" high school students in Houston and Texas were "guided" towards Rice.
Now nationally, these students have more options. By raising tuition, parents of students who are self made, distrustful of the "helping hand of the federal government" and wanting their child to succeed don't see Rice in the same way as 60-70-80s parents (a Rice U with free or very low tuition, a bargain and a place where their child may receive a great education.) Now we are competing against PR juggernauts that have shifted the narrative for the those without the time or means to do their due diligence.
Rice (the man, was self made (and to be fair exploited or used the system he was born into to make a fortune) and wished to give back to the place that allowed him to succeed) might question how his legacy is perceived. This article, however flawed at least leaves Rice in the conversation with parents and other influencers (not sure how many high school students are still reading USA Today.)

All good points.

Wow, didn't realized that Augie had been drinking for so long on the south 40... So much for taking the time to research an article....
"Augie Garrido has amassed 1,950 wins in 46 years as the head of the Longhorns’ baseball program, making him the winningest coach in Division I baseball history."

Great to see our baseball team getting some national publicity.

Tulane will soon be ahead of us on this list. David Pierce is a mastermind and was the one who brought us the great recruiting classes that has led to our string of dominance. Karlgaard better make an effort to buy him back from Tulane.

Pierce has already said he's not waiting for a call from Rice. JK better launch a National search and bring in someone to deal with the circumstances which define Rice athletics. He did so for M and WBB. I expect no less for BB.

One of my sons played soccer with volunteer assistant Scott Shepperd at Concordia. The guy comes from a winning family and is a hard worker. He should take over more of our baseball recruiting.
