A typical Evil Vodka thread. Let's see he has claimed to root for L.S.U. / F.S.U. / and now Navy. Does he sound trustworthy to you? I don't even know if he is his my troll, your troll, or just simply a troll. I vote for the latter.

RE: Chopping up the ACC: Speculative Expansion idea
As a Big Ten fan, I'd be happy with those four ACC schools joining. But the divisions are ridiculous. If you're going to go bigger than 16 teams...I think you have to go to pods--at least 3, maybe 4.

Neb/Iowa/Minn/Wiscy/Illini/NW
Purdue/Indy/MSU/UM/Rut/OSU
PSU/UNC/Duke/UVA/UMD/GaTech

But in that armageddon scenario, there's no reason that OU/KU don't go to the Big Ten.

OU/KU/Neb/Illinois/Purdue
Iowa/Minny/Wiscy/NW/Indiana
UM/MSU/UMD/Rutgers/UVA
PSU/OSU/GaTech/UNC/Duke

Virginia Tech spent 50 years trying to get in; I doubt they're in a rush to get out. Virginia will stay.

BC, Syracuse and Pitt will stay. If FSU and Clemson leave, the ACC is still a 12 1/2 team conference.

But, can the ACC remain a power conference without Clemson and FSU? That is basically their football drawing-power right there. 07-coffee3

The answer is no. Furthermore if Clemson and Florida State left then Miami and Georgia Tech would be looking for a way out and I doubt his Hokies would want to stay either. They do have the third best football fan base in the ACC and without anyone left that could even draw flies I would think they would be weighing options before the news about Clemson and Florida State faded from the headlines. Of course this is also why ESPN will never pay the SEC to take Clemson and Florida State unless they have decided to shop the rest of the ACC. And the latter never happens as long as they have hopes of landing N.D. all in.

FOX is going to have to lure FSU & Clemson if they are to leave before the end of the GOR. Then the likelihood of losing the FSU brand might make ESPN relent to placing them in the SEC. When the GOR is up for renewal should the revenue gap still exist, then you might see some real movement by the football first schools in that conference.

I think it would be crazy for the SEC to take Florida State under any circumstance. Georgia Tech on the other hand is a perfect pickup for the SEC if they want an overlap, great market, great academics, so so athletics with a potential to have a break though every once in a awhile + good history with SEC school's. The key for Florida state and Clemson is they need to win, if you put those 2 in the SEC, winning isn't happening all the time. Thus, what makes them them is gone, not to mention the rest of the sec doesn't need the competition. The idea that clemson and florida state would join the Big 12 is ludicrous so unless the big 10 adds FSU or the sec goes dumb, they aren't going anywhere.

If the Big 10 east ever got that large, I wouldn't be surprised if the eastern schools one day split off a into a separate conference.

yes, I pull for all three of those teams and my list is growing

I grew up on FSU football, and got my bachelors from LSU...between those 2 schools, I've seen 9 National Championships, with my team winning 5 of those games...I'm very satisfied as a college football fan.
