They do not mess around with bad coaches. They will make a move quick if they see the coach sucks.Say what you want about Kentucky but they made the move on Calipari not giving a damn about anybody thought.Gillespie was winning but not well enough. They don't care about getting another coach from SEC school. Here the tigers are stuck with Pastner and anybody who watches basketball will tell you, some will be nice and say he's not a good coach but others like me will say he sucks,he is not good at all. That stinking contract... I gonna wait for the news conference.I just can't believe they will keep him..

But we are not an SEC school. We can not afford to make bad coach decisions. All about the money.

If we had that TV contract we would have thrown Pastner out by MLK day

Yep, clearly. They can afford to throw around money if they want to. JP would be gone if the university had plenty of $$$. He's gone anyway though, but it will hurt.

Yep... They're getting $30M a year to play around with. SEC is committing more to college basketball, because they have more money to throw around now.

Wake me when Auburn "moves" on their 11-18 coach.

SEC has tolerated mediocre coaches for YEARS. UK is not the rule on SEC basketball - it's the exception. Only recently - since money has been rolling in so much that they don't know how to spend all of it on football - have they begun investing in basketball.

Gillespie was a drunk and joke to those inside KY program. They used to hire on the cheap but with P5 money rolling in, you are seeing Bama and LSU paying $2M plus. That's scary for Memphis.

Be just our luck to throw basketball under the bus (by keeping Pastner) and bet the farm on our chances at a P5 bid -- only to lose out and literally have nothing left.

The only reason we used to be able to get decent coaches to listen when we called was our deep pocket boosters and our program's good basketball history. If these guys/gals drop a boatload of money into a losing effort and feel they were hoodwinked into bankrolling a pipe dream, we may lose the ability to compete with the Auburn's and the Nebraska's of the world for a coach. Then we'll know what it truly feels like to be DePaul.

auburn and pearl are a perfect fit. especially pearl. he just needed a leg up to prove himself and auburn's the ideal place. it's too bad next year when he starts winning that we'll have an even harder time hiring him. he'll get a substantial raise that will put him all but out of reach.

He's already making a big salary. If he wants to leave, he'll leave - now or then. If he wants to stay, he'll stay.
