Los Angeles in the running for Super Bowl LIV/LV
From the article:

“We began discussions with local leaders almost immediately after the vote on how to bring the Super Bowl to Los Angeles,” Rams executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff said. “We’ve continued those discussions with the NFL, and we’re excited by the opportunity to bid for either 2020 or 2021. We recognize there are a lot of great candidates who have already bid, and we’re working quickly to make sure that Los Angeles’ bid can be considered and we can return the Super Bowl to Southern California and Inglewood.”

New Orleans, Atlanta, Miami and Tampa are other cities under consideration for one of the games the league will be voting on in May. The NFL has held seven Super Bowls in the Los Angeles area, but none since the Cowboys beat the Bills in Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl.

The NFL is gonna get back there Asap. They were probably mildly disappointed they didn't get to hold Super Bowl 50 there.

Maize: why would the University of Central Florida hold events there? Think you meant UFC.

He figures their shaky (literally) stadium may fall apart and they have to play games across the country, including at the LA stadium.

I would be surprised if the NFL gives the Super Bowl to Inglewood in the season that the stadium is supposed to open, because they did that with the Superdome in New Orleans and got burned when the stadium wasn't ready on time. Seems more likely they would wait until what is supposed to be the second season in Inglewood, at least. Also they should stop using the Roman numerals to refer to Super Bowls, but they won't.

They won't but not because of fear of any construction issues. They won't because they need stadium protocol and kinks to be worked out during the first season of any stadium's operation. The NFL does run the Super Bowl and not the team or stadium's operation crew but they won't grant a Super Bowl to any stadium in it's first season unless it was already an existing NFL stadium (i.e. if say the Raiders moved to Santa Clara and became a second tenant).

Honestly I'm not sure that the super bowl in 2021 isn't too soon. That only gives LA a little more than three years to get the stadium built and open, to not have it hosting in its first season of operation.

Levi's Stadium construction began in April 2012 and the stadium opened in July 2014. Two years and two months.

They started construction in Inglewood in January 2016, they plan to open in summer 2019. Even though it's a dome and more is involved than in building Levi's Stadium, it's plausible that they'll make the 2019 target date.

Houston was granted the Super Bowl before the Texans even played a game. They did the same for the 49ers before they even played at Levi's, so it's hardly unprecedented and besides, LA is used to hosting big events, from Super Bowls, to Rose Bowls to the Olympics and of course entertainment industry related events.
