RE: Hate of the coach bigger than the program?
Bigger question is do we still hate Tarik Black for getting the hell outta dodge and getting out of this clown show?

The phrase 'hate Josh' has two entirely different meanings when used on this board. Those that don't (or refuse) to understand the difference cannot have a logical discussion about the status of the basketball coach.

That's the explanation I see for "I won't watch or come to another Tiger game so long as he's the coach".

Putting the coach above the program cuts both ways, folks.

Excellent point.

That's a really good point. I will never, ever understand those fans who plan to boycott the basketball team, and even more inexplicably, the entire athletics program, because of their hatred of Josh. It is certainly everyone's right to do so, but man, as a lover of Tigers basketball, I still get excited for every game. I could never wish a loss on the team under any circumstances. For those who think that way, do you really hope Avery Woodson's three is an air ball? Do you want Shaq to foul out? Seriously. I'm curious. How do you wish a loss on the team?

And before anyone calls me a "sunshine pumper," or whatever else, I am not. I get every bit as frustrated as others who scratch their head at substitutions, game strategy, whatever. I have been on "record" as saying that a change is probably best for both parties; BUT, if a change is not made, I am still going to be front and center pulling for the Tigers to win every game.

As a fan, I don't know any other way.

Since you two want to lecture us about attending games or boycotting games, I've got one question. How many games have you been to this year?

It's always the out of towners with the attendance lectures.

I assume the state does not want taxpayers money spent on a coach's salary to be over 5 times that of the university president. I have to agree with that.

So you think the government knows how to set coach's salaries better than supply and demand?

Of course out-of-towners get passionate about attendance or boycotting games. We literally cannot go to the games, while people who could hop in their cars and be in FEF in half an hour are crossing their arms about how heroic they are for sending Bowen a message by staying home.

But my original point was not a "everyone should go to all the games all the time" lecture. If you don't want to go anymore because it's not fun for you, fine. If you don't want to go because you'd rather go to a Grizzlies game, fine. I'm just annoyed by the "I refuse to go while Pastner is still in the building" opinion, and this post was originally pointing out that there is a similar mindset to that as there is to "I'll go to every game to support Pastner".

Personally, I wish we were winning more and I'm ready for a new coach. I think the character attacks aren't necessary. It's about basketball...the basketball sucks...get a new coach (if we can get the money).

But hey, if you want to fly me out there to come use your tickets, feel free.

I don't really see it that way. I think you can absolutely love the program, and still boycott attendance. I've done it in football and in basketball. It's a way of voting, to me. I've also come back each time.

I can understand others who say I love it too much, and will continue attending - even when I want him gone.

Just don't think we are all going to agree on this one. Doesn't mean one is right and the other wrong.

No it doesn't. The fans have to apply pressure the only way they can to ensure that a change is made sooner rather than later.

Wins and lost will get him fired. Not coaching or fans.

Coaching leads to wins/losses. Coaching and wins/losses lead to fan attendance. So logic says, coaching is getting him fired.
