Rice vs Charloette
Slow start defensively for the Owls. Offensively too. Evans has all 10.

Evidently Charlotte doesn't know how to miss against Rice. 8-10. 3-4 from 3.

From which I believe that we can deduce that it is (or was, 8 minutes ago), at best, 19-10 Charlotte (unless they've added some free throws in with that)

35-30 Charlotte with 3:46 left. Evans w/ 13 points, everybody else has been a little cold. Max's slight funk has continued.

Had a chance to close to 3 but miss a layup. Egor picks up his 3rd foul. Clueless Zebras.

11 turnovers. Max has 4 and Marcus has 3. We've basically trailed by 5-10 the entire night. Having trouble getting over the hump.

38-34 Charlotte at the half. Good job to narrow the deficit. 11 turnovers. 14-34 from the field. 3-15 from 3. Evans has 13 points. 8 for Drone. 6 for Quez. Bishop has 6 rebounds which is big.

RE: Rice vs Charloette
OT: LaTech steals tonight's game @Marshall. A blatant travel is not called on layup that gave the Bulldogs a 1-point lead inside a minute to go. Marshall plays for the last shot and is lucky that they're star was fouled trying to make a difficult shot with 3.3 seconds left. He bricks the first (front-rim rebound nearly hit him in the face), but swishes the second to tie the game.

After the ASN announcers talk about players' practicing half-court shots for exactly this type of situation, LaTech ran a play ... and the lunging half-court shot was all net!

And Max's 8th turnover of the night probably seals this one. 84-73 Charlotte with 54.0 seconds left.

88-75 Charlotte final. Evans scores 27 but turns it over 7 times. Max turned it over 8 times. Didn't shoot the ball terribly but defense was shoddy. 21 total turnovers.

Yikes, losing to a bad team isn't exactly momentum-building. Do we match up particularly poorly with Charlotte, or just played like crud for the most part against them. I always pull for Rice, but it might actually give Rice a better tournament match-up to lose on Saturday. Or not, hopefully they do not end up with Charlotte in the 1st round.

I'm not sure we're in a position to say Charlotte is a bad team

No I'd say they're pretty equal to us they've just shot the lights out against us. To the previous point, whatever gets us away from UAB I'm all for.

Rice vs Charloette
I had hoped for a #7 seed but since that's out of reach I still want to beat ODU and hopefully keep the 8.

Two schools of thought:
1) avoid UAB as long as possible and hope someone else beats them for you
2) get our shot at UAB early before we get too gassed playing 4 games in 4 days.

Option 1 is likely to win more games. Option 2 is more likely to win the tourney.

Not a good game tonight at all. We were sloppy and again played horrible defense. I'm shocked we could have lost by 30 or so at Charlotte. They're nothing special.

I've been very positive with our coaches and players under Rhoades, but we have got to play better defense. And I think that's on both the coaches and players. Maybe it will improve dramatically when we can play more than 7 guys.

Yea we have stretches but can't really put a whole game together.
