Wow!
Hate to say this, but hope we get blown out at next 3 games.

Looks like we need the team that lost to ECU,Tulane, UT Arlington, etc playing next 3 games.

If players refuse to play, what happens, do we forfeit the game?
I won't be watching anymore BB till he is gone.

As I said in another post. Our biggest donor and his wife are friends with Pastner and they want him here next year. Still may not happen but it does look like he will be back and I hope ours fans stay with the team and the University. Because giving up your tickets is only going to make a bad situation worse.

I have a good idea, but our biggest donor is whom?

Need to change the title of this thread, because it's just like 100 others. Nothing has been confirmed.

Again....Dallas Cowboys won 4 games last year and averaged over 91,000 fans a game. They were #1 in attendance in the NFL. There are teams that have real fans and then....there are others.

Football potential and the ability to bring eyeballs to TV sets is all that matters. I also think you need the perception of a decently clean program since college presidents vote on these things.

He will be here at least until the end of the 2018 season. If they are not paying off 10.6 then they won't be paying off 7.9 and probably won't spend 5.2 after 2018. They don't care about Tiger basketball anymore so why she would we?

UConn basketball is the only reason they are in any conversation. Their football will always be a dreg and their market doesn't even come close to touching NYC.

If this is true i'll hate it but it wouldn't surprise me. All left for me would be a morbid interest in next year to see how bad and ugly it would get. How many losses? How many drop their season tickets and don't renew etc. If they think it can't get worse or even UGLIER they will see how wrong they are. That is all.

Agree everything can always change. I posted this several days ago on another thread:

At the Ambassador's luncheon before Sunday's game they were all astonished and "angry" about the terms of JP's contract. Many blaming the AD. They also thought it was going to be next to impossible to raise the $10 mil. What I assumed was a done deal appears to be far from resolved. Just the messenger--don't shoot me--and I was probably more shocked than you hearing the conversations.

It seemed everyone thought he needed to be replaced. No mention of anyone interceding on his behalf that he deserved another year. Some even supported him as a coach but thought due to the "current situation" he needed to be replaced. It was all about the MONEY! That is why he will be here next year.

I will continue to support the program and hope he turns things around even though I have my doubts.

UConn is a clean program ? In what lifetime?

I still have to believe he's gone after this year. But the last sentence cannot be stressed enough. If the people calling the shots don't care anymore, than quiet expecting us to go mindlessly turn the turnstiles to mitigate your disasters like we are imbeciles. If he's back, the program is dead.

RE: Confirmed: Pastner gets one more year
Hate to say I told you so when I predicted JP would be back even before this year began (& I took flack as a blind JP supporter which is far from true). My reasoning then was JP had met a level of performance acceptable to those who were paying the money above & beyond the university contribution to the salary & benefits pkg. I recall saying I thought JP could even keep his job if he had a .500 record because his past performance had met or exceeded expectation. We may disagree that JP has met or exceeded expectations but clearly those who are funding conclusively believed JP had exceeded expectation or JP would not have received the pkg he received & is part of the huge contract now.

So here's the situation, those funding the contract apparently have taken the position that the funds are committed to pay the university men's BB COACH, not to fund a buyout or post-coaching contract obligation if the university desires to fire JP. So unless there is a another source of funding JP's contract if fired, the university is saddled with that responsibility if the university chooses to do so. And apparently there is also a deficit in funds available to pay another coach. So there is actually the likelihood of two insurmountable obstacles which prevent JP from being fired & another coach hired. All of this while the university is bleeding from lack of fan support....the proverbial rock & hard place.

I did not watch a complete BB game this year. The product and outcomes were just to painful to watch. Next year will be dreadful if he is allowed to stay. Glad that Spring FB practices soon start and we can focus on the coming football season and baseball.
