Clearly, part of the problem here is that AAC rights are such a bargain for ESPN. The profit margin, as a percentage of revenue, is likely much higher for the AAC rights (which were very lightly competed) than for the heavily competed P5 rights.

That would be athletic suicide IMHO. Trying to compete with better brands with less than half (or worse) the budget in most cases.
