I'll take your word for it, but I thought you were staunchly against embracing anything from the Huggins era as it represented everything wrong with college sports. I seem to recall that you had a well-founded personal animus against everything Huggins did during his tenure at UC.

I also recall you as supporting President Zimpher (as did I) during the events that led to Huggins' ouster. Thus your approval of players from that era influencing our current program should be something we frown upon.

Please clarify.

I think we should dramatically cut academic funding to vastly increase the athletics budget. Academics are over-rated.

Are your comments tongue-in-cheek?...it seems hypocritical in light of your previous stance...
