That's shocking that a team would fire a coach with 5 19+ win seasons in 8 years. Some of the geniuses over on the JMU board assume that JMU is just a wonderful job that "any idiot" would want. But I'm not sure if every coach would want to walk into a situation with a really good record like Brady's just isn't good enough for them.

RE: Search for a new head coach
Brady was really nearly identical to Bruiser. Won a lot of games but fell apart when it mattered the most in the conference tournament. Yes JMU did win in a very down year for the conference (and got a play in 16 seed as a result), but that was the only time he did anything in the postseason. Not surprised in the least. Them keeping Brady would have sent the same message to its fans as us keeping Bruiser constantly, that winning lots of games except when it matters is acceptable. Getting rid of him likely indicates that they actually want the program to move forward and get over the hump.

RE: Search for a new head coach
Brady's teams have gone 1-7 in the CAA quarterfinals, reaching the semifinals once in eight years and advancing to one NCAA Tournament (a year when the CAA was the 22nd ranked conference in D-I and they received a 16-seed).

Many of those five 19-win seasons happened because the Dukes played a weak non-conference schedule. He went 67-73 in CAA games.

It was time for a change.

I would have thought Monte would have been axed before Brady. I believe Monte has one year left on his contract but now that Kory Holden is transferring from Delaware. You would have to think they will be in last place again next year.

Ross signed a 3-year extension in March of 2015, when his deal was set to expire. So he has 2 years left on his contract.

It appears 2016-17 will be his last shot. Either he gets fired or an extension following that campaign, much like Matt Brady's situation.

I think everybody is in the mix right now. You could be in the mix too, Coach, if you apply.

I would have, but they couldn't commit to when the Armory might be redone.

The Armory has been finished for about 5 years. They just play tennis in there instead of basketball. You guys haven't been around for a while but the DAC is looking a lot nicer. The backrooms (offices, team rooms, locker rooms) can rival any team in the country. There's all new seating and a lot more is in the works. It's still small, but Drexel will never draw more than 2,500 a game anyway. My point is that the based on the renovations that are in the works, the state of the DAC shouldn't be much of a deterrent to anybody wanting to coach there.

Admittedly, because we bolted for our wonderful rivalry games with Texas Western, I haven't followed much of what has happened in your neck of the woods. It's a shame, really, as I always enjoyed our games with Drexel, and contrary to most ODU fans, I liked Bruiser. He seems like a genuinely good dude. It was time to move on from him, but I hope he lands on his feet.

Good luck with the search. I know a few guys in the coaching world, so if I happen to hear anything, I'll gladly let you know. The process can be exciting as a fan, but also scary, if you don't trust the administration. I hope it works out for you all.

Thanks coach. We all hope it works out as well. Since the shake down of the conference we have gone backwards instead of forwards in the caa landsape. One would have thought a top contender would have thrived after the teams consistently above them left, but that has not been the case for us.

RE: Search for a new head coach
Well given the news out of Delaware, it looks like another former Drexel assistant is on the job market. This one has D1 coaching experience, including a trip to the NCAA tournament a couple years ago. He should be very familiar with the area being just a few miles down I95. This past year, he also gained experience dealing with season-ending injuries (that seems a must for the Drexel position). Good as he might sound, they had better pass on this opportunity though.

Crap, just saw the news from down south. I was really glad it seemed we had a year head start on grabbing a new coach. Now I wonder if Brey may influence Inglesby's decision making process.

This joke flew over my head on two different online mediums.

That would really suck if Ingelsby ends up at Delaware.

Maybe we can pick three coaches and play rock paper scissors with UDel and JMU to decide who gets who.

Delaware is hiring an AD first, so there may be time to get him. If we gave him an offer before an AD is in place in Delaware, it seems like the possibility of a Delaware offer would sway him much less than if he actually had an offer from them in hand.

Good to know that they may be slowed down a bit while they nab an AD, although that may not matter anymore.

RE: Search for a new head coach
I hear that Jim Rullo was in for an interview. While he may be a great coach, he doesn't have any Divison I recruiting experience. I'd much rather have an assistant from a power conference who's used to dealing with top tier recruiting, rather than a head coach with Division II or III recruiting experience. If Rullo wants to be a Division I head coach, I think he should get a job as a DI assistant first.
