March Madness
March Madness starts today with the kickoff of conference tournaments in the Atlantic Sun and Patriot league. Best time of the year for a sports fan! Mid major conference tournaments imo are more fun than power conference ad literally everything is on the line

RE: March Madness
Tough break for new jersey institute of technology. 1st year in a conference and their first real chance at the ncaa tournament. They were the 2 seed hosting the 7th seed in the Atlantic Sun qf and lost. Upset on night 1. Gotta love it

RE: March Madness
Big upset last night in the America East as the #2 seeded Albany Great Danes fell to #7 seeded Hartford Hawks. Certainly paves the way for Stony Brook to go dancing.

Hopefully we don't follow that trend!

RE: March Madness
Radford just got knocked out on a last second shot that was oddly similar to how they beat us.

Behold... The line on which my sympathy lies:

RE: March Madness
Two 1 seeds go down tonight
Bucknell from the patriot league just clinched the nit in a double ot loss to the 8th seed Holy Cross. Crazy game. HC hit a 3 at the buzzard to send to double OT and then pulled off the upset. 1 deserving team just got knocked off the nit bubble
North Florida for destroyed in their home court to the 4th seed Florida Gulf Coast. 33 point loss. Yikes. Florida Gulf Coast gets to host the 7th seed Stetson Saturday in the final. In a crazy turn of events Stetson has been ruled ineligible to the NCAA tournament due to APR violations. So if they upset FGCU on Saturday, North Florida gets to go to the dance despite their 33 point loss. If FGCU wins another NIT bubble will pop

Top seeded Belmont in the OVC in a battle with Austin Peay who has already pulled 2 upsets the previous 2 nights.

Austin Peay lives to play another day after their third win in 3 days. #1 seeded Belmont is done and headed to the NIT

RE: March Madness
Austin Peay had to win on the final day of the regular season to qualify for the tournament. Did so and promptly beat the 5 seed, 4 seed, and 1 seed. First 8 seed in OVC history to make the final.

RE: March Madness
What a heartbreaker for Belmont. Game winning shot released just a tad too late. The NIT bubble is shrinking very rapidly

This is part of the reason why it was so absurd that the CAA winner was getting pegged as a 14-seed by the "experts". Anyone think we, Hofstra or whoever would get a 14 now that several league winners will potentially be 3rd or 4th place types (or worse)?

Belmont, Bucknell, North Florida, and Albany all have much worse RPIs than you and Hofstra, so I would say none of those teams' losses helped the CAA champion's seed. The CAA should root against Stony Brook, Arkansas-Little Rock, Valparaiso, and Monmouth because they are the only teams in their conferences that could get a seed better than or equal to you or Hofstra. Princeton's loss to Harvard last night could be good for the CAA.

North florida not out of it yet. If Stetson wins they autobid reverts to the regular season champion North Florida

Another 1 seed falls in the big south. High point joins the growing club of those using their auto nit bids

RE: March Madness
My son was a baseball player at the Peay and graduated from the university. Was watching the quarters two nights ago and they trailed by 19 with eight minutes to go so I turned it off, when I saw the scroll today I thought it was the women still playing! Of course I had a similar experience in person at Trask against Horstra, guess Jimmy V was right, never give up. Go Hawks!
