Still better than us, we can't make fun of them for anything. Theyve gotten more for a basketball game than for one of our football games. Case closed.

C'mon, their enrollment is 44,000. NIU's about 20,000.

No No this is the state school in the big ten conference. Playing in a newly refurbished arena, getting upwards of $30M from the Big Ten network.. Big difference.

Doesn't matter, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
How old is the Convo? The worst crowd for the ILL-ness is on par with what we used to get in the days of Evans Field House, and you can count on one hand the number of times attendance has been better in the Convo than the norm for Evans. That network TV money also isn't tied into attendance whether it goes up or down. Considering the lack of atmosphere, the inconsistent concessions, lack of an NCAA-regulation track, when will the Convo ever get refurbished?

Am I the only one who read the Thread title as "Attitude" not "Attendance"?

It's not just been this season, it's been about 6 years of mediocrity (at best, and oftentimes worse) in the two revenue sports and the fanbase has disengaged. Whitman has a huge task ahead of him because the fans have largely quit; they've responded well to him but they won't start coming back until they start winning in something that people care about. The non-revenue sports are collectively really good but that doesn't get people to basketball or football games.

They have over 10k international students too, which is sickening for a state school. Why there is such a difference between their academics and everyone else.
But at 10k, that's over 20% that will likely never attend a game. Throw in about another 10k solely their for academics and are geeks and you are down to the low 20's.
I know 3 people who have sons/nephews going there and the have zero interest in attending any sport. Don't even know when games are played. In fact, one was in his son's dorm when they won on a bomb late, he was watching, not a peep out of the whole dorm.
Attitude has certainly changed after some success in years past. Even mediocrity produced 40-50k in football, and basketball always well over 80% capacity.

I thought the number was 7,000 international but regardless, they pay full boat cash. I have a friend whos oldest several years age could get into UI through the Ag school. He thought that was weak so he went to Columbia (not the film school) . Same with his youngest and he went to Georgia tech. UI is a good school but they are full of themselves. Kind of sad the old collage rah rah is dieing

This is so foreign to me.
But then again, I never would have known when the Theater team wins a big play, when the Physics team solves a big physics thing, or if the Dinosaur department discovers a new brontosaurus.
