I expect the same thing from Bowie. Somehow, when these players leave NIU, they become superstars.

lets face it, when we had him he was a pain in the a__. He got his immaturity out of his system and matured for 2 seasons at ISU. Just think if he had his act together and Highsmith was not injury prone, the bball turn around probably would have happened much earlier.Sometimes is just a matter of luck or lack thereof.

RE: Darell Bowie
Nader was an extremely talented player who was surrounded by absolute garbage. Look how much better Baker got this year when he had real talent surrounding him.

Bowie was a productive player at times, but he's nowhere near the level of player both Anderson and Nader were.

I don't think it's fair to rip Nader or call him immature, etc. He was a highly regarded recruit who came here and played on crap teams for two years. If you expect a teenager to handle that situation well, good luck.

Crap teams but plenty of blame to go around. When you give 50% effort as a way to show your displeasure with playing time, that is a huge problem.

Nader was by far the most talented player on the teams he played on here. His successful move up doesn't surprise me. Bowie is going to have a much more difficult time with his outside game being weaker and his size actually small for the Big 12 inside game.

Nader shot selection was horrible and so was his defense.

Nader looks like he's grown up. He was talented but a cancer. Hard to keep a guy that keeps violating team rules.

RE: Darell Bowie
Hey everyone, Iowa state fan here and I wanted to drop by and see what you thought about Bowie. I can't help but laugh at what you talk about Nader because a lot of it is still true. Last year he was around a 17% 3 point shooter but that was the shot he liked the most. Nader improved a lot this year and while he normally is a turnover machine it seems like, he has been playing great these few last games.

Now Iowa state is going to have a ton of new faces next year and Bowie is going to be one of them. If you watch Iowa state you'll notice we have normally the top 3 offense in the nation and we rely on scoring more than playing defense. Now this year our coach has made an effort to improve that and we do play better defense than the Hoiberg years, but we lack a rebounder. I feel like we got Bowie to help rebound. So my question for you NIU fans do you think Bowie will help more on offense or defense? Any glaring issues?

RE: Darell Bowie
I guess if there were any glaring issues to be concerned about Bowie as a Cyclone fan it would be how does an average MAC player translate to the Big 12.

RE: Darell Bowie
He's a fairly well-rounded player in my opinion, but he's unspectacular. If he's the 2nd or 3rd guy off the bench at the 3/4, giving some minutes, maybe a couple points and some rebounds? Probably good for a Big 12 team. If he's needed in anymore of a capacity, probably not good for a Big 12 team.

Also, TBD on how he comes back from his injury.

RE: Darell Bowie
Bowie is a strong rebounder and defender. He likes to drive to the basket and can finish. He has a tendency to turn the ball over and is not a consistent threat from the outside. It will be interesting to see how the shoulder holds up and how his game translates from the MAC

RE: Darell Bowie
Here's what I think:

Given what may be going on here, next year, Bowie would have enjoyed an overall better run and experience, right here.

No, I am not saying we will be better than Iowa State, but we will be good (perhaps a bit better than that) and D. Bowie would have been a large part of next year's team and had a real chance to make a mark with a unit he grew with.

At Iowa State, where I will wish him well, he will be fine. A complimentary player in a bigger program....if he stays healthy.
