Evans gets only his second field goal of the game but La Tech comes right back with another 3.

RE: Rice vs La Tech
La Tech is beating us senseless on length and athleticism alone.

I'm just hoping that very soon we won't have to live in a world where playing teams like this automatically spells doom for us. The Bulldogs are OK, but they're not THAT good.

Tonight they look like last year's La Tech team which I still think should have had an at large bid. We didn't play all that well the other night either but while I didn't think we could win tonight I am disappointed at how we are responding to all that Tech is doing.

Ok-so this was going to be a tough one. Come back home and win the next 2 for 6 wins in the last 7 and 8 of the last 11. Darn good for such a young team without their best player and best newcomer. Would be pretty good momentum going into the tournament and more importantly next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, we're totally fine. This doesn't negate the progress we've made. I just don't like seeing games like this for us... ever.

At least our FT shooting touch has returned. We are 18-21 from the line. I agree just wipe this one from the memory bank the instant the buzzer sounds. Win the next 2 and then at least 1 in the tourney and it will be a good year given the problems we have had with health.

Pretty sure our best player is #2. I like Marcus Jackson, but he never did what Evans is doing

I also would like to see Lott play before I say he's better than Evans. Finish strong at home, give Max a nice senior day send-off, and compete well in the tournament. And then most important of all, make sure everyone (including Rhoades) comes back for next year!!

Egor winds up with 26 as Owls lose by 19. I echo FBO's comments about everyone returning and add that we stay healthy.

Rice vs La Tech
I figured we couldn't win 11 in a row. So would rather lose tonight than in the conference tourney.

Regroup and get ready for a tough but winnable home stand next week!!

Speaking of, are there any current students on these boards (or alums with inside connections to the MBB program) who have an opinion on how happy our current players seem at Rice? Do they like the school? Do they like the classes? Are they active members of the college system? Do the see and buy into Coach Rhoades' long-term plan for wins and turnout and support? Etc, etc.

Obviously I'm asking if there are any fears of losing guys to transfers. I'd like to believe that the Kazemi/Ennis/Reichel years were an anomaly due to Braun and Greenspan, but I also remember well from my years on campus that some athletes felt part of the school and some...didn't. I imagine the MBB players love and respect Rhoades. I just hope the sparse crowds don't have any looking to greener pastures. I figure if any current students know if these guys are showing up at parties, hanging out in commons, involved in college activities, enjoying their classes, etc, that that could provide some extra insight into their general contentment. Anyone?

RE: Rice vs La Tech
Tough game but you had to know at some point we were going to have an off game. Max probably had his worst game of the season, and when Marcus isn't on his best game, we're very thin on offense. I didn't watch the game so I don't know what kind of defense Tech played but against a team that doesn't have a very big interior presence, I hoped Drone would've taken a few more shots. Overall just gotta regroup and hopefully win two tough games next week.
