CUSA Swimming and Diving Campionships
OK this thread is going to be part SD Championship and part being proud of the Marshall turn around. The SD championships just wrapped up at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of GA Tech.

Marshall finished 2nd behind nationally ranked FIU. While scoring 222 points in 3 days. This is a huge step for Marshall considering only 4 years ago I was EMailing Mike Hamrick about once a week to implore him to shut SD down. Marshall had just finished the SD season without a win and without scoring at least 10 points in 4 meets. The program was in shambles. Then stepped in Bill Tramel, associate SD coach at Minnesota.

By the end of his 1st year there was a drastic change. In is 1st year there was 19 Marshall records had fell and 31 individual records fell in the season. This week alone Marshall medaled 16 times.

Yes we do. FIU swim women, as our beat writer calls them, wrapped up the back to back championship before the final day of competition tomorrow.

All I can say is, be glad WKU axed our swimming team, or we would have won it. Again.

RE: CUSA Swimming and Diving Campionships
The original poster is wrong. Marshall finished third, Rice did finish a close second ahead of Marshall. The results online had it wrong right away as Marshall swam two relay teams in the final race and only one team's results count in the scoring.

Congrats to the top three teams (which clearly were ahead of places 4-6). FIU has a quality team with a lot of foreign swimmers. Rice is young this year but I think has a chance to challenge FIU next year for the title (even though we don't have a diving program). Marshall obviously has improved a ton as the other posters have said.

Swimming is an up-and-coming sport among young athletes (I have two girls who are swimmers myself). It's astonishing to see how many really good young swimmers there are in my part of Texas.

Rice women won 2014 (and all the years before that 01-ncaabbs ), FIU women won 2015 & 2016. What is this "Again" that you speak of?
