Kansas gunman killed 3 after being served restraining order, sheriff says
Quote:The gunman who killed three people and wounded several others at the Kansas plant where he worked had been served a restraining order less than two hours before he opened fire, investigators said Friday.

The shooter, identified as 38-year-old Cedric Ford, showed no indication he'd unleash a rampage when the protection from abuse order was served Thursday afternoon, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said. He described Ford as "upset" at the time, but not unusually so.

RE: Kansas gunman killed 3 after being served restraining order, sheriff says
This almost deserves it's own thread because the Obama DOJ is actually filing charges against someone for violating federal gun law, something they haven't done as much as the Bush administration.

Quote:A criminal charge filed Friday alleges a Kansas woman unlawfully transferred guns to a convicted felon who killed three people and wounded 14 others before he was killed Thursday in a shootout with police in Hesston.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 28-year-old Sarah T. Hopkins of Newton is charged with one count of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon.

An affidavit filed in the case alleges Hopkins knew Cedric Ford was a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing a firearm when she gave him a Zastava Serbia, an AK-47 type semi-automatic rifle, and a Glock Model 22 40-caliber handgun.

KAKE News has confirmed Hopkins is a preschool family advocate with the Hillsboro school district, USD 410.
