Kent State @ Miami
The Flashes have another big roadie on Saturday in Oxford. Miami is coming off a big win over Akron to up their conference record to 4-11.

The Redhawks have a couple of nice pieces in senior guards Geovonie McKnight and Eric Washington. The Flashes should hold an advantage over Miami in the paint. Manny of us, though, believe that Kellon Thomas is the key moving forward. "Watch the guard play," said Bob Lindsay on 1350 earlier in the week. He went on to say that the teams with the best guard play are the teams that will be standing when the smoke clears.

Axeme...I'll meet ya under the Upham Arch after the win.

Kent State 70
Miami 60

Looks like we will get no help from BG tonight. Akron is up 31-11 with 10 minutes left in the first half.

I don't care so much about catching Akron as a first-round bye.

Down 30-21 with 1:30 left in the half. We better get going. This would be a bad one to lose.

RE: Kent State @ Miami
Down 17. Senderoff gets thrown out of the game!

Is this because he is angry at the officials?

Or is it because his team is blowing a perfect opportunity to position themselves for a top 4 against a 4-11 conference opponent?

The same stuff at Buffalo only he didn't get a tech.

Frustration is understandable. But what is not understandable is not having the team up for this game. Defensive intensity has been non-existent.

Within 7 with four minutes to go. There is at least a chance.

And it ends with yet another technical foul. this one on Jimmy Hall. Today is not a proud one for Kent State University Basketball.

No more chances to win this one. We now have to win out to have a chance for a bye. I wonder if that Akron game just took the steam out of an already tired team. I've seen that before. Rivalry games can do that to a team whether you win or lose the game.

Indeed. And our steam tank was low to begin with.

We have the ability to beat anyone on a given night. Not sure if we have the desire or fight to win several in a row in a few days.

Unfortunately we also have the ability to lose to anyone in the MAC on a given night. That Akron win seems like a long time ago at this point.

Agree with your projection (implication). This senior class is a big disappointment in leadership.

Particularly when you are talking about mostly 4-year guys (including KThomas).

A lot of responsibility falls on Walker and Avery to be leaders starting next season.

I'm not surprised we beat Akron. They're up-and-down and it's a rivalry game, so anything can happen. However, I'm surprised we lost yesterday the way we did. And it can't be blamed on injuries.

We got punched in the mouth 8-0 to start the game and never really recovered. Miami played well, but we have to figure out a zone D. gave us fits

RE: Kent State @ Miami
We were 15-5 before the injuries and 3-6 afterwards. Yes we can play well at times but since the injuries we just don't have enough talent/manpower. There is no margin of error. I really don't think it's a lack of effort. It might be frustration from having the season effected so much by the injuries though. You see a lot of that on this board so I expect they feel the same.

They rose up and beat Akron at home not unlike how Ohio St rose up and beat Iowa yesterday. But you can't do that every game. Jimmy Hall was whining when we were 15-5, Ortiz was making bonehead plays when we were 15-5 and K. Thomas was an average point guard during that stretch. Walker coming back will help but I don't think a 3 or 4 game run in Cleveland is going to happen. I just hope we have enough left to get to Cleveland.

I do not buy for one second that injuries are the reason for our losing. We still go nine deep and that is enough. The problem is that Seniors Ortiz, Spicer, Thomas, and Cancer are being beaten by the other teams underclassmen. Sometimes they are beaten by freshmen and sophomores. IMO, recruiting graduate players with only one year left from so called "lesser leagues" is not the way to build a program. We still have not learned how to take advantage of Hall being doubled and sometimes tripled.
