I don't disagree that recruiting seniors doesn't help but I still have a hard time using that to explain why 15-5 went to 3-6. The injuries caused that to happen. The recruiting etc caused the injuries to be so devastating. That's why we have no margin of error.

The recruiting is the long term problem the injuries are what killed this season.

Agree 100% G-Flash.

In the grand scheme, of course injuries take their toll. But at some point you have to get over it and move on. It appeared that Kent State had done that. Now I understand that minus Pollard you are probably not looking at a team that was set up to win the conference. But as you pointed out, that is not a good statement. Pollard came in for one year as a stop gap to a very thin crop of guards on the roster. That is bad practice and it caught up to them big time. I digress...

To go down to Miami and lay that ugly egg reflects leadership. Thats leadership including Coach Senderoff, not just the seniors. Jimmy Hall should be a bit pissed off. There isn't a shooter on this team capable of taking pressure off him. Notice I didn't say there aren't any other scorers.

Anyways, on to BG. On the brightside I think Michael Reghi will be getting us to the hoop all night long on Tuesday. Hopefully somebody will step back and sweet stroke a triple from the rafters of the MAC Center. #mancrush.

The problem is that Seniors Ortiz, Spicer, Thomas, and Cancer are being beaten by the other teams underclassmen. Sometimes they are beaten by freshmen and sophomores. IMO, recruiting graduate players with only one year left from so called "lesser leagues" is not the way to build a program. We still have not learned how to take advantage of Hall being doubled and sometimes tripled.

I agree with pretty much everything you said except that the injuries aren't why we're losing. Losing Walker was a big deal because he's probably our best outside shooter but Pollard was the big loss. Hall might be the leading scorer but Pollard was the guy that could penetrate and score when we were in an offensive rut. We ran a lot of LeBron-type offense with Pollard meaning we'd just clear out and let him go one on one. I remember thinking in a game earlier this year that I was afraid we were going to become too comfortable with relying on him to get us through rough patches as opposed to relying on an actual offense with interchangeable parts. It's very unfortunate that we had to try to make that adjustment mid season instead of in the off season. We've certainly got a flawed roster and some frustratingly inconsistent upperclassmen but I believe if Pollard didn't get hurt, and to a lesser degree Walker, a lot of our problems would not have surfaced as prominently. Not saying we would've won the MAC but I think we'd have at least two more wins right now and the losses wouldn't be so lopsided.

Score is 2-2. Who's breaking the tie? Actually I think everybody is making good points. I would agree 100% with GF 68 if the injuries took place pre-season or within the non-conference season but asking a team to adjust right in the middle of the conference season causes you to lose some critical games and effects the season much more then losing some non-conference games. Overnight the team went from battling for first place to trying to hang on to a bye. That's tough.
