RE: ESPN just said 4 Aac teams are in
The committee has a history of putting one less American team than what ppl think will be in the tourney.

The only way the AAC gets 4 teams is if Temple or UH wins the Tourney.

The fact it's coming from a BC fan is even more laughable.

I saw some halftime talk of the UConn-USF game and that group was saying the AAC would be lucky to get 2 in.

Because there is a big difference between who is in "right now" and who is in when we get to selection sunday. Of all of the teams on the bubble, the AAC teams are some of the most likely to hurt themselves and least likely to help themselves. That's just the way it is. Temple is on the fence right now, but what can they do? Go 3-0 against RPI 209/150/237? Then what? Go to the tournament and play the 8/9 winner and risk a horrible loss? Maybe face Houston next who can beat them and won't help a ton if Temple wins? I'm rooting for the conference, but objectively I'm on board with both the idea that Temple is "currently in" and the idea that Temple will be in the NIT at the end of the day. It's too hard to be perfect running through can't lose games risking bad losses. We'll see.

RE: ESPN just said 4 Aac teams are in
This is a bit misleading, I still feel like 3 is the best we can hope for with 2 teams getting in for sure. ESPN is saying 4 teams but look at the 4:

UConn is a 9, this is our closest thing to a lock. With games left home against UCF and Houston and at SMU. Even with a loss at SMU they should be fine with an RPI of 44 and a BPI of 24.

Temple is in at an 11 only because they are being projected as winning the AAC Tournament. They have UCF and Memphis home and are at Tulane. Short of winning the AAC auto bid with an RPI of 61 and a BPI of 74 they would have to run the table and win AT LEAST 1 game in the tourney to have any shot.

Cincinnati is an 11 and the highest of the last 4 in. With games at Houston and ECU and home vs SMU if they have a loss not named SMU they may be in trouble. They have a BPI of 26 and an RPI of 56 so the SMU game will be huge.

Tulsa is third of the last 4 in and a 12. BPI of 46 and an RPI of 36 they have games left at Memphis and home against USF. I would say after UConn they would be in the best position right now. Win out and win their first round game in the tournament and they should be a lock.

Even with a strong finish if any of these 4 with the exception of UConn lose their first round tournament game based on how the committee has treated the AAC in the past they may find themselves on the outside looking in.

I hate to root against anyone, but even with the 2 extra spots created by Louisville and SMU we need poor finishes by Pitt, Colorado, Syracuse and VCU (last 4 byes), Vandy and Butler (last 4 in), Gonzaga, Oregon State, St Bonaventure, and George Washington (first 4 out) and Alabama, Washington, UCLA and BYU (next 4 out).

I say we get 3, 4 only if things break perfectly. If a few late season or tournament upsets happen 2 is definitely a possibility.

I hate to say it, but concerning Temple I couldn’t agree more. As far as I’m concerned for Temple the NCAA Tournament starts in round 1 of the AAC Tournament. Even if Temple wins out in the regular season if they don’t win the auto bid, based on the last 2 years and how the committee has viewed the conference I don’t see how they get an at large even with the fact that they will finish the regular season 5 – 1 vs UConn, Tulsa and UC, and beat an undefeated top 10 SMU.

I’m a supporter of Dunphy but if Temple misses the NCAA for a 3rd straight year it’s time to take a long hard look at Temple basketball from a scheduling, recruiting AND coaching standpoint. With the facilities and history this program has 3 years in a row with no NCAA is unacceptable, but that’s a rant for another time.
