Yes they are, but if you aren't going to renew one its proper to inform the student athlete of your decision. That's the point here. The fact that it wasn't renewed is not a big, it's the official notification of non-renewal.

He was told. He knew. That's the point. He says he didn't but he was told.

You can't prove he was told any more than I can prove he wasn't. You want to believe he was, but I haven't even seen where your coach claims he told him. I do believe that at the time he was given a scholarship that the coach told him it was a one year thing and would only be renewed if an extra was available. I also believe that the coach didn't bother to tell him when he knew that one would not be available for 2015.
Was he under a legal obligation to let him know? No, he wasn't. However, it's poor form not to give the kid a heads up and the only reason you wouldn't is because you don't want him looking at other options.

I thought long snappers were the ones supposed to bend over.

Please tell me you're not really using "he's a kicker, the coaches probably forgot about him," as justification.
Even if you take Stock at his own word, I think it's pathetic that he didn't call the kicker into his office and say, "Sorry, bud, we don't have one for you this year. If you want to stick around, let me call Financial Aid and set up an appointment for you."

Well, that was a nice attempt at taking a blurb and using it out of context to misrepresent the totality of the discussion.
I acknowledged it could have and should have been handled better, so I wasn't making a justification for anything.

We had two last minute adds last fall. 4* Cutrer and 3* Bruce . One of those two got his scholly. Thems the breaks. That's the life of a walk on kicker. He knew the deal. He is also best friend and cousin Austin Grammer. I am sure they sit around and talk about how victimized they were. Bottom line is Stock has been here a decade. If that is the way he operated I don't think this would be the first we heard about it.
