OK. So you have been on the board less than a year and a half. Having been on the board for about a decade, I can tell you that if you start slinging sh#t, you will rightfully become a target of others. And as far as getting old, you will be surprised how fast old age gets here.

That's fine. I'm not the one ignorantly criticizing programs. This board generally has a much higher level of conversation than saying something "sux" and changes are needed.

Let me ask this -- how many track and field meets has OldOwl been to recently? For that matter, anyone here? I'm curious to find out the level of involvement.

There may be others, but HoustonOwl and Rick Gerlach are regulars at track and field.

We all every once in a while out of frustration post something we wish we had not posted. It happens to every one. It will happen to you, and you will not appreciate it when someone lands on you in a snarky manner. You will be old sooner than you think, and you will hope then that people give you a little leeway rather than pouncing. I have given you several chances to indicate that this was not meanspirited on your part. You just doubled down. Old Owl is old, what is your excuse.

How old is old here? Is there a magic age?

Thanks, WRC, for highlighting some of the folks who physically support the track and field programs.

Wow! What event was that in 03-wink ?

Wrong thread. My fingers are cold!

Could be:
Hammer,
Shot put,
100m dash, or
Pentathlon (for the 5-tool players)

Maybe we should have a Medicare medal for those of us +65.

How old must we be to merit this respect? I'm 70.

I haven't been following this pillow fight, but to answer the question, I have been to two track meets, both when we were in the SWC. I do not live in Houston. I ran track in HS and roomed with a track athlete, so my interest in hearing results will likely continue.

Ranger's comment is much appreciated. I can still hold my own in the OR with my young partners. Although my stamina is not what it used to be.
Tiki. What would that medal look like? Maybe a wheelchair in a wreath of hearing aids?

Don, I am so young I can still remember a lot from college. One of my favorite sayings, which came from a guy from Big Spring, was -

Love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe.

Lots of wisdom there if you think about it.

Wouldn't it be better to drop men's track and field and have men's rowing?. I think it would be cheaper since we like cheap.

Yeah, that's a great idea. Add a sport that doesn't have an NCAA Championship available.

2004 - men's outdoor track and field
1970 - men's basketball

Guess men's hoops has to go, too.

We have had a few All-Americans recently in a variety of events. Track and field should not be cut. If you are actually interested in cutting programs, men's football or basketball should realistically get the ax first.

You have to have men's basketball to remain a division one school, unless you are just sponsoring one sport (like DBU with baseball, RPI and many others with hockey)..
