I think this win puts Tech in 3rd place in the conference. If Tech can beat Rice Saturday then the next game against Marshall on 3/3/16 could be for 2nd place in the conference. It's going to be interesting to see how this season plays out and who gets what seed for the CUSA tournament. Hopefully for Tech McCree will be back for the Rice game. We played tonight without three starters from the beginning of the year and still pulled out the win. North Texas is a really scrappy team and can beat anybody.

63.6% for the year...ranked 335 out of 346...

this has always been an issue with benford...he says they practice free throws...but maybe they don't practice making them...

It's not a shot at NT, but I cannot understand how people miss so many free throws in college basketball. It is the simplest shot. I played basketball in high school and shot around 80% from the line, so why can't a college player in DIVISION 1 miss so many free throws? This is throughout the league too, not just NT.

it should be a shot at north texas! you're right...how the hell can you be so bad at something that is, in theory, so easy?

My special needs daughter can make 70% without warming up. In game situations, it's mostly mental.

Agreed, insofar as the mental impacts muscle-memory.

I was an excellent free-throw shooter (just never gave myself enough game opportunities to score that way), and for me it was always about "feeling" the proper motion, much like a solid golf swing or even a fg kicker's leg motion.

A big part of the problem with FT shooting at the collegiate level is that this type of fundamental (and technique) is not a point of emphasis at the AAU level. The move away from key fundamentals and the focus on individual dribbling and scoring has hurt his aspect of the game for a lot of programs.

JMHO.
