Do Butler, Gonzaga, Dayton, VCU, Wichita State, and San Diego State have to cheat to win big? Somehow there's this idea cheating and winning aren't mutually exclusive at Memphis. Thanks Josh.

There are so many gray areas and so many loopholes and so many ways to be unethical but not technically be cheating.

The whole idea of running a truly "clean" program at a high DI level is laughable.

We don't have to cheat but we have to be wiling get down and dirty and fight for the best recruits.

If you don't want to play in the gray area you better go get someone like Majerus because that's the only way you're winning.

Pastner isn't incorrect about our program's history. But if you don't cheat, you also don't keep your job. That's also a part of Tiger history.

That kid from Duke never had to answer for that $100k in jewelry he just magically could afford, and Calipari's system is well-known and in the open, and they still allow it exist. They put his ___ in the HOF for Pete's sake despite the trail of destruction. So, when the NCAA actively allows cheating the way they do and applies rules unevenly and unfairly, I almost think it's unethical NOT to compete on the same plane as these other examples - call it what you will.

For as long as I can remember watching the Tigers, which goes back to the Alvin Wright days, I've heard how Memphis is the "hotbed of high school talent". I don't know if that is still true or not but my sense is, the right coach could recruit the area (including ARK & MS) and develop a team that looks like it knows what it's doing, compete nationally while making an occasional Sweet 16 or better without cheating.

I think the real issue is that Memphis cannot win w/o cheating, AND cannot cheat w/o getting busted. All programs break the rules of the NCAA and the amateurism code. Unfortunately, the programs with the most power seem to escape the worst of the NCAA's rule enforcement. Memphis is not one of those programs. They seem to keep a closer eye on schools like us and UNLV and similar schools to make sure we don't get too far out of line (meaning have too much unchecked success).

Yeah, we got probation, kentucky got a championship. Who brought drose here? The u of m or calipari and his agent? That whole situation and some of the dirt covered up early at kentucky sums up the ncaa.

So we're listening to what Chris Vernon thinks now?

I hope that this thread proves that CJP...deep down isn't what he says....He is CLEARLY saying this ...I just want the team to compete again...and have scrap on Defense and Rebounding...We don't even do that anymore...
