RE: why big 12 expansion will not happen
This is interesting and many pundits have wrote on this before. If the Big 12 does split up here's what I think will happen.

OKC and Kansas to the Big 10
Texas and OK St to the Pac 12
TCU, Baylor, Kansas St and West Vir to the AAC
Texas Tech and Iowa State to the MWC

Option 2
OKC and Kansas would go to the Big 10
Texas and OK St to the Pac 12
New Conference (Left Overs, AAC western schools and Service Academy's)
TCU, Baylor, Kansas St, West Vir, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Houston, Tulane, SMU, Tulsa, Memphis, Cinn, Colorado St, Air Force, Army, Navy

Why not? We certainly meet all the requirements and have a few advantages that those schools do not have.

#1, NAH,,,I don't think so. Maybe, but hey, what do I know.

You have a stagnant football team whose recruiting has fallen each of the past 4 years under your lame duck head coach. Your basketball team has a great tradition and I hope it continues. Your baseball team is getting better and your fans, of which I have some family UC alums, are great people.

As a P5 candidate you've peaked. That being said, your university does deserve it. But #1, that distinction belongs to Notre Dame, then BYU then a whole group in a mix, of which you are a part of.

Yep, you are a stronger candidate then us (on the field),,,,for now. Our problem is that our prior President didn't value athletics. Our new President gets it. Our new AD gets it. I really think we are on a roll. I hope we have this conversation in the future and you eat your words.

But, if we own you and we suck,,,what does that make you? HAHA, lighten up!!

Please understand that I am not critisizing you but the information... with that said, this is a really dumb post.

Oklahoma State does not have anywhere NEAR the academics or research it would take to get into the BIg 10 or the Pac 12. Not even in the ballpark. Not gonna happen, not even an option. The ONLY way they get into the Pac 12 was if a package of Texas and Oklahoma came with them. Oklahoma tried to have talks about getting the two into the Pac12 without texas and it was a no go. Theres absoltely zero chance OSU gets in with just kansas.... and as far as the Big 10, there is only 1 school they will take that isnt AAU (notre Dame).

Kansas has very little chance of getting into the Big 10. They meet the academic part by being AAU but their market would do almost nothing for the B1G. They dont bring in enough revenue to be neutral.

Kansas St doesnt have the academics to be in the ACC. Every team in the ACC is ranked in the top 100... KSU isnt near that. I could see the ACC adding Baylor and TCU.... that would be a smart move but from everything Ive heard from family up in Indiana says that the ACC will take Uconn if/when Notre Dame joins full time.

The biggest issue that all these scenarios that I see have is that they do not understand the culture of the conferences, the income structure and the process that the conferences use (like which ones have certain academic requirements and such)

I agree with most of what you say here except the bolded part. Louisville is not sniffing the top 100 in academics either but the ACC didn't have a problem in taking them.

Ill admit... I forgot about them. Up till Lville joined FSU was the lowest ranked at 99th.

The ACC is looking at forming a network and I dont see KSU adding much of anything to the market since they run a distant 3rd in most and what area they do lead, is very tiny.

What you miss is Louisville is pumping millions into academies. You do bad research! 07-coffee3

Its funny that you guys think the pres and ad were the source of tulanes problems. So when does the sec take harvard and yale?

07-coffee3

Academies or Academics?

So what you're saying is that Louisville is just fitting in with the rest of the ACC. If I recall NC spent millions on Academics as well. 40 yours of fraudulent classes and fraudulent instructors for those fraudulent classes. You go UofL!!!!! 05-stirthepot

RE: why big 12 expansion will not happen
Even if Big 12 brings in more teams its still not going to fix the problems they have presently. One of the big reasons teams have left the Big 12 is Texas. Texas is the 600 lb gorilla in that conference. They are big and greedy, they want it all. Big 12 is currently at the disadvantage compared to other conferences. Also have had a loss of rep compared to conferences like the B10, Pac12, ACC. Their next ESPN contract will not be what the Big 12 will want. Its all about revenue streams. Colleges that have left see other conferences with bigger more guaranteed revenue streams so they left to get some of it.

I did very good research and Lville is the ACC bottom feeder. I love your school, but the simple fact is that if you look at most ranking companies, including the moronic US News, Lville is the lowest academically ranked school in the ACC.

and btw... your 12 spots behind USF 04-rock

(Lville 168, USF 156)

I appreciate the response and candor. I was just having some fun and throwing it out there. I agree whole 100% with the academic side of the equation. The University Presidents make these decisions not the AD's. That's why attributes like being an AAU school is just as important as culture etc. Nebraska I believe is the only non AAU school in the Big 10. However, they were members of the AAU and were disqualified recently. I had read where they hope to get back in.

The single biggest thing that I miss with this whole Power 5 BS is that everything got thrown out the window for the almighty dollar. I miss the rivalries....
