Feb 22nd ReCap/Results and latest Conf Standings heading toward AAC Tourn
Tulsa at UCF: Knights started off the game ice cold from downtown in the first half (8%) as Tulsa built up an early 16 pt lead and lead by 14 at the half, 36-22.

UCF finally woke up in the 2nd half...and brought the game back to 2 pts (56-54) with 7 mins remaining.

Teams then traded baskets as UCF got within 3 a few times but Tulsa kept hitting shots and slowly pulled away for the 75-67 victory.

ECU at SMU: ECU rolled out to an early 35-28 lead in the first half...but SMU closed out the half with an 9-0 run to lead 36-35 at the half. ECU shot 56% from the field, including 7-14 from downtown in the first half.

In the 2nd half, SMU's Nic Moore (last year's AAC Player of the Year), broke open a tied game at the 17 min mark with a spurt of 3's...and SMU then coasted to a 74-63 victory. (ECU ended up shooting better from 3 pt range than 2 pt range as ECU shot 12-24 50% for the game from long range).

Temple at Houston: The Cougars started off the game, similar to UCF, ice cold from downtown in 1st half (1-8), as Temple built up a 30-25 halftime lead. UH came back and took control of the game in 2nd half (shot 50% from 3 pt range in 2nd half) and built up a 10 pt lead with 11 mins to go but Temple slowly came back and tied it up 64-64 with a 3 pt with 57 seconds left in the game...then took the lead on another 3 with 16 secs left...and held on for a 69-66 victory as UH's last second 3 pt attempt failed.

Here's how the latest standings look for the conf tourn as the Top 6 teams receive a 1st round/day bye (note: SMU at 10-4 is ineligible for post-season play)

1) Temple 11-3
2) Tulsa 10-5
2) Cinci 10-5
4) UCONN 9-5
5) Houston 9-6
6) Memphis 6-8
7) UCF 5-9
8) USF 4-11
9) Tulane 3-11
10) ECU 2-12

UC won't be playing in the 1st round as all the Top 5 teams are locked into 1st round byes...and Memphis still looking good for the 6th seed and last first round bye.

The Bearcats would win a 3 way tie with UConn/Tulsa, but would lose a h2h tie with Tulsa unless weird stuff happens.

If the Bearcats win out, the lowest they can be is #3 seed.

Memphis would have to lose out (possible), and UCF win 2 of final 4 (highly unlikely), for Memphis to go anywhere but #6.

Well, we are assured a loss by playing any of the top 5 teams. Looks like a short trip to Orlando.
