Missing the top teams is a catch-22 if you're competing for an at-large spot.

I believe CCU will have to temper that back next year as you'll have 11 conference series (unless they change the format). This year you only have 8.

It will be 10 series next year, each team will have one league opponent they will not play.

Dibsies on ULL.

Format is a catch 22. We could play 11 series and ensure a full round robin, but then someone gets 18 conference road games to 15 home games. Teams like Arkansas State are already at a severe disadvantage to the rest of you guys because weather forces us to play our first 10 games away from home now, and limits our outdoor practices. The years we got stuck playing 18 league games away from home would make matters even worse.

In the end, skipping one team is the best thing for everyone. Sure, someone lucky soul is going to miss ULL, and some unlucky soul is going to miss App State, but ultimately it's the easiest way to make the format fair to all.
Played in a 12 team league before. It's not that bad. 6 home, 5 away one year. 5 home, 6 away the next. Bunch of wusses.

It's also been voted down every single year possible since back in the old days of the league. Many of you may forget, but we went something like 5 or 6 years as a league playing 6 games against our natural rivals simply to avoid playing just 9 league siers, and someone getting the travel disadvantage.

Eh, most years our at large chances are going to be determined by OOC. The impact of not playing a ULL in a year like this year is only important if you plan on winning the series.

A couple years ago when the Cajuns were probably even better than this years version, they went 29-4 against SBC Competition...the RPI boost was non existent for all but Western, Arkansas State, Texas Arlington, and Texas State. (Their 4 losses that season)

Didn't you guys take the series from ULL last year?

I doubt we sacrifice the tournaments, but maybe. We have 2 OOC weekend series, one with Stetson and one with GT.

Gary Gilmore was a senior in high school the first year in my teaching career. It was the first and only time our high school played in the state championship game. We lost to Kempsville out of Va Beach.

Thats good, we keep our 4 OOC tournaments and give up our 2 OOC weekend series, even if that unfortunately give up a SEC/ACC weekend series.

You will most likely give up a tourney and keep a series because you essentially have a bye week in conference play...there aren't very many conferences who have that set up. Will be difficult to find people to play a tournament in the middle of their conference slate. It's difficult to find a quality series

Like the SEC, the Sun Belt will have 30 conference games. No byes.

There will be one school you don't play. IT will be on a rotating basis.. That's been decided and schools are scrambling to fill the fourth week of non conference, since the original schedule was before CCU was admitted

Baseball folks do their scheduling at least two years in advance.

I don't see why they would be scrambling to fill anything. We have 10 conference series this year. We had 10 last year. Those slots should already have been filled. TXST has Nevada coming in for a weekend in April.

So why is the schedule like that now? We have 30 conference games...why do we have a non conference series in April? Or did the league finally realize it was dumb? It was that way last year as well.

Because there are 11 conference teams, that's an odd number, which means not everyone can play each week.

We have 11 teams...Scientifically, it's impossible for 11 teams to have a conference series each week. New thing.

You are not the only one's, we host Northwestern State the first weekend in May this year. In reality, you'll have the same number of OOC series next year, but you'll have them all at the beginning of the year, making scheduling far easier.

AState and Ole MIss rained out tonight. They are going to try to play tomorrow at 5pm, but the weather doesn't look like it will cooperate then either.

Never implied we were the only ones. If we will have the same amount of conference games why didn't we schedule that way before? Why have we had mid year OOC games the past 2 years?

This is the SBC you're talking about. Do you really need further explanation?
