He and his former boss both drove/wandered around Memphis calling up all our recruits and trying to get them to come to Kentucky with them. He admits that's what he was doing. I like that about him. He doesn't seem to be a lying sack of &#!+.

Josh Pastner has far too much integrity to have ever done that.

He does what his bosses say. Can't fault him for that. He just had too much integrity to do it and then say he was driving around trying to make a tough decision about whether to leave the city he loved or not. Whatever we think about Pastner, there's really no question how he stacks up in an integrity contest with his former boss -- none whatsoever.

Even I would say next to John Caliper, Josh is eligible for sainthood.

I like his positivity and integrity.

Also his willingness to discipline.

He appears, by all accounts, a very good human being. I suspect some here couldn't measure up to Josh on their best days.

That he donated $250,000 to Tiger athletics.

He has kept us off probation, players have not been arrested, and he does always take time to add a personal touch off the court.

And I disagree about the national media perception. Had we fired him last year or the year before, other coaches and the media would have really given us a hard time. But after this year, everyone gets it.

I appreciate his work ethic and caring about life beyond basketball. No doubt he is a special person but he has a ways to go coaching D1 basketball. Very polite and kind. He did keep our kids out of trouble and graduate players.

He lost too many games over the last 2 years and didn't win enough big ones in his first 5. It's really that simple.

He's not getting fired because of the type of person he is, he's getting fired because he isn't meeting the job expectations.

He's a great guy and there is plenty Memphis should thank him for. I wish him nothing but the best, but this isn't a good fit. Best for all involved if he takes another job...but there will always be good we should be recognize.

I've said similar, but I usually use a lot more words. That first sentence nails it.

5 years of good... but not good enough.

RE: What do you like/appreicate about coach Pastner
I appreciate him running a clean program, graduating players, being a good role model, etc. That's it.

I don't appreciate him telling fans they were in outer space, because at that point, even "good fans" were complaining. I don't appreciate how he constantly used excuses and blamed players for this or that. I don't appreciate the same answers every time someone asked him a question. I don't appreciate him dividing the fanbase. I don't appreciate him helping the players not become better at the game as a team. I don't appreciate how he does not motivate them to be their best. I don't appreciate the multiple suspensions and transfers. I don't appreciate him running the program in the ground. I don't appreciate how i have become disconnected with tiger basketball especially over the last year. I've barely watched them this year and went to one game. That's normally not what i do. I don't go because i don't appreciate pastner as a head coach.

One more thing. I don't appreciate whoever is in charge (and responsible) at the u of m for letting pastner have this last year or giving such an unproven coach a contract that could cost the u of m so much money.

This better be his last year.

I think he's in the top 2 for best recruiting head coaches that the school has ever had.

He put together some nice classes in his first five seasons.

Every time a player got out of an LOI or was set to transfer or came available late, Memphis was almost always mentioned as one of the schools that player had heard from.

He was definitely on point when it came to tirelessly recruiting.

IMO
