Maybe it's being PC or just trying to spread the wealth. Our ideal situation would be to establish some ongoing rivalries within the conference with Notre Dame. My first order of business would be for Notre Dame to play Miami every year. I also would like to see an annual Clemson v. Notre Dame game if it wouldn't put too much burden on their OOC schedule because of the 'lil carolina game.

How many ACC schools would be willing to take themselves out of the Notre Dame rotation in order to have the Irish play the top teams more often?

At some point you have to make decisions that are for the greater good. Plus they could increase the payout for all schools.
So to answer your question....I think all of them would.

This also assumes that ND will want to play Florida State, Clemson and Miami every year along with teams like Texas, Michigan State, Southern Cal, Stanford, etc....

Agreed. But if I had my way and I ran the conference I would make the pitch for ND and the ACC doing the following:

1) Get ND to commit to 6 ACC games a year
2) Play Miami every year with the game in Miami in odd years.
3) In addition to the Miami game play FSU, VT, UNC, L'Ville, and BC one year
4) And then the next year play GT, Clemson, UVa, Pitt, and SU with the caveat that the home SU game must always be played at the MetLife Stadium.
5) Then repeat 3 and 4 mixing up the home and away locations.

Again, I very much doubt ND would go for that. I also have no doubt NC State, Duke and Wake would be ticked off at that as well. Also, it would tick off SU fans who will feel "robbed" of an Dome match-up against the Irish.

But in terms of what is best for the ACC, it gets ND playing 5 games each year against what should be the marquee programs in the ACC and alternating BC and SU gets the ACC brand in Boston and NYC for football in this set-up.

Of course, none of the above ever happens.

Cheers,
Neil

Why not TerryD, I thought the Irish thrived on Big Time scheduling.04-cheers

It does and already does. There is much gain for the ACC with that idea, but not so much for the Irish.

The news about UT refusing to allow LHN's conversion to a B12 network shocked me as it is a complete reversal from what was said 2 days ago.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 27m27 minutes ago
Hopefully this is UT's power play to take initiative away from Boren & Gee & steer the B12's choices going forward.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 26m26 minutes ago
I know UT wanted the B12 GoR extended to match the length of the LHN term. UT also wasn't keen on adding AAC schools.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 25m25 minutes ago
Coming out of the 2/4-5 directors meetings it was my understanding UT had deferred to ESPN provided they did not lose any LHN income.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 25m25 minutes ago
It was my understanding that ESPN had elected to pickup the B12N & pass on ACCN.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 24m24 minutes ago
Suddenly today I receive word Texas is balking. No reason given.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 23m23 minutes ago
That is all I know. I did not verify this info. I don't hear from this source often but when I do it's important.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 22m22 minutes ago
I trust him enough to pass along whatever I learn from him without verification. But he provided very little detail.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 20m20 minutes ago
Personally I can't see why UT is doing this unless they are reminding Oklahoma & the rest that the Longhorns alone control the fate of B12.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 19m19 minutes ago
I don't know Anymore.

@theDudeofWV that is why other schools left Texas conference. Who wants to have a master? You say your school can go to sec. Pray 4 it.

@theDudeofWV Leave door open for an eventual ACC invite if ESPN goes forward with ACCN instead? Roll LHN into that?

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 40s40 seconds ago
@zthedges No. B12N just as profitable if not more.

Lol, the Dude is shocked that Texas doesn't want to give up the LHN and its $15 million per year.....

Not a bad idea Neil.
Wake and Dook don't need that level of competition and NC State might be too "red" for Notre Dame to take.
