Ben Braun is one of the commentators. How weird is that?

I think he's worked a number of Rice games on ASN the last couple years. He's always been very positive on air about Rice and Rhoades.

Cashaw with back-to-back 3-point play + 3-point bucket, then Evans with the big slam for some breathing room 21-14 Rice.

First 3 game win streak since Jan 2014.

Women have come a long way since start of season.

I hadn't seen Rice women at all this year, but did stumble on the game (on MASN2 - decent reach here in the mid-Atlantic) at halftime and watched the second half. What I saw was a pretty good game by them and sounded nothing like the struggles that were being described on here at the beginning of the season.

The lead got as high as 17 points, but FIU was able to chip away at it as Rice had a flurry of turnovers at the beginning of the fourth. But defensive rotations were generally sound, and there was good offensive ball movement and playmaking. If they could hit some free throws, they might have even had a bigger lead.

Oh (and this is a generalization), and the difference between calls by the refs from the women's game to the men's game is insane. Actually calling travels on jump stop type movements, light bumps getting foul calls, and pivot foot shuffles were getting called in this game and never get called in the men's game with any consistency (if ever).
