The UAB Blazers travel to Murfreesboro to take on the MT Blue Raiders this Sunday. MT is 18-7 overall and 10-3 in C-USA. They are tied with Marshall for second place, and just one game behind UAB.
Their non-conf. SOS is 121, and their overall SOS is 212.
After eleven home games, in which they are 10-1, their average attendance is 5,124. Their lone home loss was to VCU, 62-56. VCU is ranked 36th by Pomeroy. They beat Auburn, 88-81 in overtime. That game was considered a semi-home game for MT. They had over 7K at that game.
Their three conference losses were at UAB, at Marshall, and at La Tech. Giddy Potts, MT's leading scorer at 14.9 points per game, didn't play in the UAB game.
KenPom.com has it MT 71 - UAB 68. This is the second straight game that UAB comes in as the underdog. UAB won the previous contest against MT, 78-67, but trailed at halftime, 42-30. UAB won the second half 48-25.

RE: Middle Tennessee
MT's best wins are against non-conference foes, as they beat Toledo (112) and Belmont (123). They lost to the two top 100 teams they played - VCU (36) and South Dakota State (77). Both losses were by 6 points or less.
Their worst loss was their first game of the season, when Murray State (192) beat them by 11 points.

RE: Middle Tennessee
Giddy Potts is 59-118 from behind the 3-point arc. That's 50%!!!
KenPom.com ranks Potts as the 6th best 3-point shooter in the country. KenPom.com only considers D-1 games, so his 3-5 against Alaska-Anchorage doesn't count in their calculation.
In conference games, Potts is just under 51% from downtown.

RE: Middle Tennessee
In conference games only, MT really stands out on the defensive side of the ball.
They lead C-USA in causing turnovers, steals, and preventing offensive rebounds. Their defense efficiency is second behind La Tech, and one place above UAB.
On the flip side, MT is last in defensive free throw rate. Free throw rate (FTR) is FTA/FGA. MT's FTR, on defense, is 50.7%, which is last by a large margin. UAB is 2nd in the conference with a defensive FTR of 30.2%.
In MT's loss at UAB, UAB shot 33 free throws. In their loss at La Tech, the Bulldogs shot 31 free throws.

Even if we lose, won't we still be #1 due to tiebreakers? We are 1-0 vs Marshall and they are 0-1 vs. marshall.

Giddy Potts is also an Alabama native (Athens)...don't you know he'll want to make a good impression vs his home state

Playing focused and intense on defense. I like the aggressiveness near the basket on offense.

Mehenti doesn't have a good post up game. There's a significant drop off when we run out a line up like this.
